Default Turners now gouging because "other stores are"

Was in San Marcos Turners today and they had in some mp15, ak47 and others but said since other shops were gouging people they were going to charge higher than before plus require 400 bucks in accessories or optics if you buy any "black rifle"

No. If you look at the invoice, base prices for the rifle are the same they just bundle with the scope. So a Colt 6920 + TA31RCO should come out to about $2,500.

This thread has a real, "I am telling on you" feel to it. BFD.

OP, do you even know what you're talking about? So what if they're requiring conditions on the sale of their "black rifles"? They're not forcing you to buy them. Neither are these firearms considered to be essential commodities in a state of emergency. So take a chill pill.

Josh3239 is correct. The rifles are bundled together with optics. I see the point. Why would I go and pay 2000.00 for a Colt 6920 at a place like Ammo Brothers when I can get the same rifle with a scope for less money at Turners. Makes sense to me.

I think doing this combo stops them from going OOS.

only people i hear complain about this are those looking to turn a quick buck on GB or the CGMP.

And a store employee said this, did they? They probably said it because they're sick and tired of dealing with panic buyers and people whining about price gouging...

Not having any experience with the store the OP is tlaking about, I can say for certain that they are charging over $100 more for the "sale price" on the Beretta PX4 storm than the "regular price" was when I bought mine last year.

Folks may not agree with the "supply and demand" therory of pricing models, but you can't avoid the relaity that it exists. All you can do is choose to either buy or not buy. *****ing about the pricing model serves no real purpose.

The arsenal theyre selling isnt a FIME group arsenal with a stamped receiver...

Its a BIT overpriced at 1700, but i believe the MSRP is around 1400.

For the record I am not even into ARs but am into consumer advocacy. Requiring addons of high margin items is nothing new in business. But their cost is less than most for example a sig 226 costs them 619 and they sell for 1080. That is fine but gouging for more money is wrong and I responded by saying no and going over to Duncan's instead

I hope you don't eat at any restaurant because their mark-up is 100% or more. I also hope you don't plan on buying a diamond... ever. They're dime a dozen and yet jewelry stores charge so much for them.

Again, if the buyer is willing to spend what the seller is asking for the product then all is good. It's called supply and demand. And gouging is only unacceptable when it comes to essential items. A gun, while a tool for self-defense, is not an essential item.

Profit is fine. Gouging by adding mandatory addons then saying "you get a good deal because we don't gouge and they do" is wrong. Both are forms of gouging and wrong but justifying it because of others is wrong

OP, since you align philosophically with the socialists who are for price fixing, maybe you could emigrate to North Korea or Cuba and be happy there. Or you could help Barry in hia quest to make a socialist country out of the US.

I don't align with them. Free market is fine. The point is dont raise prices or sneak on addons and act like you are not gouging when you are.

Why can't they raise prices? Who's sneaking add-ons? Lastly, what IS your definition of gouging?

Nope, I'm just an advocate of a free-market society and a true believer of the Laws of Supply and Demand. BTW, I bought my stuff early last year in anticipation of price increases due to increased demand. I saw the writing in the wall. Too bad others did not and now they're paying for their lack of foresight.

EXACTLY. I've worked in restaurants/bars all my life. You wanna know how much that sugary jack & coke you just paid $8 for cost me to make? Try 30 frakking cents-yeah, that's right, not even a goddamn dollar. So I guess restaurants, gun stores, gas stations and I are all a buncha price gouging rapists? People need to grow the frak up, man...

I have it on pretty good authority that any firearms that Turners had on order before all of this nonsense started, they are getting at the previous cost and selling at the previous price. Anything they order now, they are paying more, so they have to charge more.

I think the add on is smart business because it helps deter people from buying at pre panic prices and then 10 days later putting it in the CGN market place at double the price.

Just picked up a sp2022 for 549. Not a screaming deal but it's in line with what I've found (oos) on line.

What did get me is the Franklin Armory lowers for 289

I bought a bunch of magpul stuff online and it took me days to find the best deals. Turns out turners sells them for the same price. For the most part they have the best deals

Just stop guy.

Sneaking add ons? I'd like to hear how bolting on a scope, adding it on the tag and the total price to the rifle is considered sneaking add ons. Bundling is normal. Every seen the Colt 6920 CMP-B? You know the one with the Magpul grips, handguards, and rear sight? Is that Colt gouging? Ever seen a DD M4V1? That rifle with a DD rail with the cutout for the front sight that adds several hundred dollars to the rifle gouging by DD? How about the LMT Pig Package, with its Leupold scope, 2 stage trigger and other features that they bundle into one rifle gouging?

What was the point of this thread again? Just stop.

This can be compared to buying a car with all the accessories. That is just how the dealer has them, and a lot of times they dont even order the lower models. They are not gouging you. Same goes for the rifles with the addons. Dont like? Move on.

Price gouging at Turner's? Have you looked at the private firearms sales forum over the past three months. If you find it necessary to call out anyone for gouging, then why don't you start there. I thought the prices for private sales were already high before all the panic, lol. Just saw a Saiga 7.62 asking $1000 ( unconverted). Bought one at Turner's four months ago for $399. Should've bought 10

You're an idiot.. sorry.. but you are..

They could have just raised the price $400 and they still would have sold.. this way you get an optic..

You have zero concept of a supply and demand economy.. I KNOW you don't own a business because you would be out of business..

Tired of all the "be FAIR!!!" hippy talk..

In any event, I bought a Mini-14 today at Turners for $799.. was $750 before the panic and they are selling online for a LOT more.

Raising prices when supply is short and demand high (ON LUXURY GOODS) is NOT gouging.. it's called a market economy. Maybe you need to move to some sort of socialist county?

put down a deposit on a FA billet lower last month. Got to see one in person yesterday and they are VERY nice. getting a matching billet upper is going to be a challenge.

the analogy about cars at dealerships with all the extras to justify the higher price is right on. perfect example and nothing wrong with it. Adam Smith would approve.
