Default 14 x 18 Safe Room on The Build Show

Pretty cool episode of a nice house being built in Texas, but fast-forward to 15:15 to see the big safe room they built out of poured concrete and concrete blocks.

An absolute necessity for me, my GF also gets so loud that i'm afraid my wife would hear her.

My gunsmith in Phoenix had the same thing in his tract house.

The heavily reinforced walls (similar to the construction in the video) were lined with long gun racks with storage bins at the bottom.

The bins had thick pads on the lids doubling as seating.

On one side was a closet filled with every kind of ammo you have ever heard of and quite a few you might never have heard of...

An open display of guns inside a room like that would be pretty cool to have.

Thanks for sharing, scbauer

If this is in CA - have the overlords required the room to be used to shelter homeless yet?

If not, it's coming.

this idea has been floating around for a while in various circles and I even explored the costs with a vault door and came up with a couple of conclusions ignoring the final costs. You are locked into a permanent defensive position since you can't move this room and secondly all it takes is a liberal judge, a court order, and a tank borrowed from the army by local LE since they will no doubt be calling you a "suspected" terrorist and guess whose room get bulldozed. eight gauge rebar in the concrete walls every foot ceiling to floor or eight gauge plate metal is not going to stop them if you panic some liberal enough. And if all they find inside is your stash of soft drinks they are not going to apologize or rebuild your room for you. They will just pass a law outlawing such rooms. Good luck.

If I were to build a new house, a safe room/vault would be part of the plan.
Here's a post with lots of pics from a guy that built one in his basement.

I’d definitely do a wine cellar/gun room vault. My next house will have one.

Its amazing what kind of cool stuff you can put into a house with a reasonable real estate market.

I fear having a room like that would bankrupt me trying to fill it though. Right now I just want to have a nice space to work reloading.

Nice but I'd what the vault door to be hidden from plain view. A secret wall panel would be cool.
