Default ACLU v. Clapper (NSA / FISA / PRISM) - NRA files Amicus agreeing with CGF/CAL-FFL/EFF

Today, the NRA filed an amicus brief in an ACLU case (ACLU v. Clapper) arguing that, among other things:

The mass surveillance program threatens the First Amendment rights of the NRA and its members.

The mass surveillance program could allow the government to circumvent legal protections for Americans’ privacy, such as laws that guard against the registration of guns or gun owners.
The NRA brief is at

In July, CGF and CAL-FFL joined Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) and a number of other organizations as plaintiffs in a federal lawsuit challenging NSA data collection policies. Through the lawsuit, CGF and CAL-FFL endeavor to protect, among others, gun owners, dealers, manufacturers, and all who participate in Second Amendment-related activities and associations (and those who would, but do not due to the NSA policies and practices).

This is good news. I'm glad the NRA sees fit to fight this also. These two organizations should find common ground more often. After all, they are both ostensibly civil rights organizations. The ACLU having a broader scope than the NRA which more often than not, that scope of concern ends at the Second Amendment.

Here is a link to Fox news on it.

Excellent. Would this also include an injunction to stop the NSA to stop collecting data while this case goes through the court?
