Default Registration Time Frame

Anyone know how long does it takes from beginning to approval assuming normal registration (non-complicated).

Thanks

Lex

If you get everything correct on your application the first time, it could be as little as maybe 3 weeks from what I've read.

I do imagine it will also depend on the volume of other applications at the time you submit, however. There may be a bunch of people who wait until mid June to submit applications. If that happens, the wait may be longer then.

Submitted mine on the 5th and got an email confirmation today (9th) that the registration had processed. What that seems to mean is someone at the DOJ looked at my registration info and inspected my photos carefully to make sure the info corroborated. I got one rejected and one accepted. I believe that means the one accepted is officially registered but I have to wait for a letter in the mail for actual confirmation.

A separate email came for each rifle even though I put them through at the same time and paid one registration fee.

I wrote in the form that the rifle was .308 but in my photo of the receiver it had "7.62" stamped on it. They asked for an additional photo of the caliber stamping on the barrel to be certain. The barrel says .308WIN. I am guessing they need all the info in the form to match what is stamped on the gun, one way or another.

You may be wondering why I didn't simply enter "7.62 NATO" on the form in the first place. Well that caliber wasn't in their drop down list! Only 7.62x39. Seems like I will not be the only person having this problem.

EDIT:
They now have 7.62 NATO available listed with 7.62x39. I think they are just considering all 7.62 calibers the same.

I submitted 5 AR's on 3-15-18. About 10 days ago I got an email for each one because the receivers say "multi" and I put .223 for caliber. I made the corrections that day and got emails 2 days later saying they were again in process. The acceptance letter for all 5 came today. So it took just under 60 days with corrections having to be made.

Overall 4 months and some change. Multiple incompletes and resubmits with enough varieties of firearm that likely took a while to review by different individuals.

It took about 10 days from the final acceptance email to the letter.

You should be okay, as long as you don’t miss anything they send you within 30 days. Make sure you log in and check to see if they’ve requested any info and answer/modify anything as necessary.

I had the same issue when I registered last month. I could not find 7.62 NATO so I entered .308. So far I have not heard anything since I registered.
