We may not even need a poll, the 27-29 dates seam to be the most popular. With X's blessing, I'll go ahead and start a poll tomorrow for the last two weekends in April.

Sir.

You have no idea how much I do appreciate your help and willingness to take point and lead our family efforts.

Not a surprise, this year promise to be an extremely demanding year in my overseas hunts.

Regardless what, this is our biggest family reunion known to exit ever to its nature in CA.

Let's keep the fly flying!.

Respectfully.

Lonewolf.

Try to not book on the same weekend as Coachella or Stagecoach. They really jack the prices up those weekends for RV rentals. I’m there either way. I’ll clear the schedule for another SSZS anytime.

So that would kill the dates we have set...

Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. April 13-15, 2018. April 20-22, 2018.

Stagecoach Festival on April 27 29, 2018.

I still like 4/27-29..

Default So. Cal. Meteor Showers close to those Dates

Just thought I would put this out there.

The following will be meteor showers that will be visible in the So Cal area and the dates they run:

Lyrids

Active: April 16 April 26

Observing conditions for Lyrid meteors are best after moonset on the 22nd at 1:34 a.m., PDT. From a dark sky, the number of meteors should reach a maximum of 18 or more per hour by dawn.

Viewing conditions are Good.
Peak nights: April 21-22

Eta Aquariids

Active: April 19 May 28

Bright moonlight will interfere throughout the 90 minutes before dawn (3:00 a.m.-4:30 a.m.) during which the Eta Aquariid meteors can be observed. Under ideal, dark conditions, the shower should produce about 20 meteors per hour.

Viewing conditions are Poor.
Peak nights: May 5-6

What is OK to bring:

Useful tips and tricks

* If you're bringing a tent/canopy/shade/whatever, bring plenty of weights to hold it down as there are strong winds around noon to 3 PM every day. 2 years ago, several blew down range as well as a table or two blew over with guns going everywhere.

* Organize items list for those going to the store or coming up in the middle of the day or different days. Example would be ice, food or bug spray.

I gave up on mine (20') at last year's 8.5. It was just too windy and I was worried it would lumber over and hit someone in the head. I didn't even bother bringing it out for 9.0.

Hopefully the forecast for 9.5 is better and I lug it out this time.

To the fellow members asking me about event details please allow me a few days or so to properly reply to your inquires since my communications channels are rather heavy.

For everyone to know.

This is a family event and a great effort is applied to make it safe and possible.

The line ( the biggest ever to exist in our state) will be guarded by certified NRA personnel. Strong safety measurements will always be in effect.

The target location is only 15 minutes away from Barstow in the CA high desert.

Proper driving instructions, coordinates, maps, GPS will be posted in this thread when the time comes.

Why not disclose the ground's zero specifics before that you asked.

Because is part of the fun, anticipation and concept of our family event.

Plain and simple, if you can make it up to Barstow guess what, you are pretty much there. Another 15 minutes driving and you will be surrounded by some of the friendliest people in CA.

I emailed President Trump requesting he do something about the wind for this event. Hoping he can come up with a winning weekend for the Zombie Slayers
