Talking DONE! Calguns Night Shoot April 30th@ Chili Cook Off @Burro Canyon

After Event Report
Good Morning Everyone
Well the Night Shoot @ Burro was a hit. We had 60 Calgunners Shooters, Families and Friends. Thank you to everyone for coming and bring so many new potential Calgunners 
We opened the line at 5pm, broke for dinner around 715pm or so and closed the line around 1030pm. We had many families come for this event and many newcomers. We even had 1 Calgunner who was looking and getting a feel for his first ever purchase, he was well received and I suspect got to examine many different rifles and pistols, he mention the 1911 as his choice 
The Chili cook off also was a hit we had 8 chili entries, some excellent corn bread sides, salads and desserts. We had tons of food, Thank You to everyone that brought food we had enough food to feed everyone twice over and provide deserts. We had 4 judges and they voted Howie44’s chili as the winner our runner up I think was TMNCALI with the chili in the white with blue rim crock pot. We had plenty of lights and generators, Thank you to everyone that brought cables, lights and generators.
I know there are pictures so I hope they are posted soon.

Special Thank you to Our RSO’s, Lead RSO Lyte she did a great job, Lyte’s RSO crew Ross, Faceless Minion, Ricky-Ray, Santa9Monica and Howie44. Special Thx to Yugo for his helpfulness.
Thank You again Mickey3Gun for your helpfulness.
I feel these events are successful because of the Volunteers and the Calgunners. \
Thank You Everyone for your time, thoughts and efforts

Best Regards

Jacob

Calguns - April 30th Night Shoot @ Chili Cook Off @Burro Canyon

Needs and Expectations

EXPECT: If you place something out in the Fire Zone EXPECT it to be DESTROYED!
Because it’s Fire Season, NO Steel Target

Quote:
Fee’s:
- $20 per person paid to Burro Canyon at the Calguns Check In desk
- $5 per target frame if you purchase a Burro Range target frame
- All other fee’s are individual or group buy based

Needs:
- I will need at least (8) RSO’s, please respond back if you can fill an RSO position.
- End time – We will close the line at 10:45pm
- Meet up @ Public Rifle Range
- We will walk the line after the line is closed for the night and clean up
- Coming Late is OK. The Gate has padlocks and one of them will not be locked, Let yourself in and close the gate behind you (remember do not lock the gate)

Safety Rules:
- There will be a Safety Briefing before the Range goes live
- If possible we will all be on the same line
- Absolutely NO Intoxicants of any sort Allowed.
- 1 RSO per (8) shooters

- All shooters not going down range must remain behind the shooting line and away from the benches during the cease fire
- Red Glow sticks will be considered a “Cease Fire” Color
- For downrange targets use any color other then RED or Orange otherwise the line will never go hot

FYI: Target sells glow bracelets in their $1 section. 15 one-foot long bracelets for a dollar... they look like uncooked spaghetti noodles, but flexible enough to loop if needed. only issue: they come in 3 colors green, yellow and light orange.

Those glow sticks were pretty much dead by the end of the night, and started going dim about an hour after sun down. If you buy them, buy a few and buy the big thick ones.

Sweet! Last night shoot was a lot of fun.

A few things I learned at the last night shoot.

Get the good glow sticks
Bring lots of lights and extension cords (Lots and lots of them)
Bring food to the pot luck
Don't expect to see any paper targets past 50 yrds without a high powered flashlight
Dress warm
Illuminated reticles

I dont know the shooters that are going, but in the past when i've shot at the desert i draw my target with a highlighter and use a blacklight to light it up. Works great... as long as you dont shoot the light source.

Chili, like in a thick stew that usually includes meat and beans.

I've never been a fan of the 626 but shooting, that's a different story.

Then again it seems like this is all about rifle. I haven't been gifted my AR-15 just yet.

We need to be fire conscious for this shoot so we will need shovels and water extinguishers

The following link will take you to our signup sheet. I've added pretty much every that said is going and what they are bringing. If you are planning on going please take a look and if you are going to bring something for the pot luck please add you name to the sheet and what you are going to bring. I've set it up so anybody can edit the document.

My buddy wants to bring some dragon's breath shells for his shotgun. Are these allowed at Burro?

I just added to the Google document. I may be bringing my dad and a friend. My wife can't come as I previously posted, but my son and I are coming for sure, but not sure about Dad and friend. Do I need to confirm for sure who exactly is coming? Pretty stoked on this event

What are those? Assume like tracer shells and I know Turners was selling them and I understand you can use these in target loads in shotgun only, but am not certain.

I would think if they don't allow steel because of Fire Season, then dragon breath rounds would be banned, due to their risk of causing a fire.

Based on what I found on youtube, they look like an incendiary or tracer type round. I'm pretty sure that's not going to be allowed, especially with fire season in place.

I can bring a Generator if you need one. I noticed someone else signed up for this on the Google spreadsheet. I have pretty good flashlights, but not a flood light per say. I will bring whatever my wife cooks up-she's a good cook so we'll see

FOOD will NOT be Provided for Free and Chips, Soda, water and Cookies are not food. If you want to eat you at the Potluck you need to bring something for the Potluck or you dont get to eat from the Potluck! If you come with friends you need to bring enough for your friends as well.

Thx!
I'm assuming homemade chili counts as food.

We are going to need more than one generator and set of light's. Last night shoot we had 3 or 4 generators and there was still a section of the range that was a bit darker than the rest.

The halogen flood light's usually work the best. The ones you get at Home Depot for around 20 bucks and up.

I'll be dropping off my generator to Jacob before the event!
