Default Help advice

Hello, new to group. I could use legal advice. About two years ago my property was seized with a search Warren pertaining to a roommate. My gun safe was forced open and i was charged with felony possesion of an assault weapon. I have hired an attorney and keep getting the slow walk from the court. My attorney says Fremont court doesnt normally return firearm. I plead to m32. Can they keep my firearms being I am not a felon and have no prohibiting misdemeanor.

Maybe you should hire an attorney for legal advise, instead of stranger's on the internet.

Two years in and you do not have legal counsel? There will be many more questions and comments before the night is over...

OP, that's the person that you need to be asking. Good luck with any answers you my get from here, just remember one thing: I'm willing to bet that nobody here is giving you legal advice.

That result would have a lot of influence on whether you might be a felon.

As already suggested, your lawyer is your best source of answers in this situation.

Who's that Warren guy anyway? Sounds like a dork.

"Sir, we have a Warren to search your premises."

"You... wait. You have a what?"

"A Warren, sir. He's five years old and he fits under beds and behind cabinets real good. He'll be searching your house."

"I see, haha... Ok then. Hey he's adorable"

"Sir, Warren found assault weapon in your bedroom."

"Haha, I get it, a 'salt' weapon. You guys are cracking me up."

"No, an actual assault weapon."

"Oh. That."

You have representation but you're here seeking legal advice? Seems odd.

What did your attorney say when you asked him this same question?

According to post #1, his attorney said:

OP, if your firearm qualified as an "Assault Weapon" under California law two years ago and it wasn't a Registered Assault Weapon, you aren't going to get it back regardless of whether or not you actually get charged with a crime.

For his sake, let's hope he doesn't. There is no benefit at all to him yammering about any of this on a public forum. He has counsel, he needs to direct his questions to his attorney.

OP

Some attorneys are awesome for your specific need... others stink....

I had a simple issue- and I met with 2 different firms
One firm said no problem, $1500 flat fee
One firm said $10k retainer, should be $15-25k as a ballpark

Criminal and gun law is a specialty...... I might suggest researching a new lawyer
