Default "Approved" list of CCW courses - Sacramento

Is there an "official" list of approved CCW courses that are accepted by Sacramento County Sheriff's Office?

This would be for the qualifying course, not the renewal course...

Thanks!

There is no official list anymore. DOJ Certified, 16 hour course. That's all that's required.

Certified by DOJ as a CCW Instructor or a BSIS Firearms Instructor.

What is the specific certification required?

The CCW-approved training for the Sacramento County CCW Permit...

A person certified to proctor an HSC is technically a DOJ certified instructor. I was never able to get a straight answer from the SO on that. All I could get was "DOJ Certified Instructor." The class must be 16 hours, cover gun safety and the law and provide a live fire qualification. That is all Sac SO will say.

I think I'm going to go with ASI that works out of the Cordova Shooting Center at Sunrise and Douglas...

They have the following:
"DOJ Certified Instructor." The class must be 16 hours, cover gun safety and the law and provide a live fire qualification.

Thanks for the responses!

Hello everyone. There is no list of approved instructors in Sac County anymore. They did away with that earlier this year. They're way too busy with CCW applicants to spend time maintaining an ever changing list.

I'm a CCW Instructor and I'm approved by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department as well as many other Police and Sheriff's Departments. I'm actually holding classes regularly. Feel free to give me a call directly at (209) 401-0907 or e-mail me at ccwtrainer@live.com.

Take care & Merry Christmas!

I have a letter that states

Quote:
You must also provide certification of either a 64 hour hand gun training class (PC832), or a 16 hour Sacramento County Sheriff's Department approved training course - to include passing a written and firearms proficientcy test. (Law as of 01/01/99)
Is this the same letter your talking about. It says "approved training course".
Shouldn't they issue a list of approved courses?

Yes. However, the policy is obviously no longer in effect; worry not and take your preferred course from a DOJ-certified instructor.

You would think a couple of keystrokes and the SCSO could stop mailing mis-information.

Brandon, Thanks for all your work. I am one of CGF success stories.
