So, I just watched an interview with Alex Villanueva. He is a NO ICE pro sanctuary city, no CCW candidate.

At this point I will be writing in Bob Lindsey as LA Co Sheriff in November.

Write-ins in the general are counted the same as if you didn't vote at all.

Well, I cannot in good conscience vote for the other two anti American asshats.

In this case, Villanueva is the LE equivalent of Gavin Newsome, and a vote for the incumbent asshat would be appropriate. There is worse than the status quo. I was really sad when Bob didn’t make it.

ALADS, the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs, took the typical union line and endorsed Villanueva without a survey of its members. PPOA, the Professional Peace Officers Association, which represents Lieutenants, Sergeants, Security Officers, Security Assistants, Law Enforcement Technicians, and Dispatchers surveyed its members which supports McDonnel. PPOA hasn’t officially endorsed anyone yet.

I just leave that race blank. Serves the same purpose. With the top two system, there are no write-ins allowed in the general election. Even in the primaries, only approved write-ins are allowed (there's a list at the election table). All other write-ins are treated the same as if you left the race blank.

On the ballot it reads "eligible names will be released 11 days before election day" Wtf? So if Lindsey is not named, it what, invalidates our ballots? Folks have said no more write-ins on General but why put a place for them?

Depends on the county.
Apparently, LACO has retained the option.
My ballot does not, nor apparently does OC.

Only if he is on the list of official write-in candidates. Otherwise it's treated the same as leaving the ballot blank. The list is usually not released until about a week before the election.

Is he running a write-in campaign?

Apparently the write-in prohibition only applies to State voter-nominated offices and Federal offices in the general election.

Free-for-all write-ins have not been allowed the entire time I've been a registered voter and probably much farther back then that. A candidate has to be on the list for the write-in vote to be tallied as such, otherwise it doesn't count as a vote for anyone. Write-ins here are basically to allow people who filed too late to get their name printed on the ballot to still be able to run. Most CA voters IME don't know or understand this.

I voted for Lindsey of course. But at this point I'm leaning toward voting for Villanueva. It's a choice between bad and bad. My reasons to lean towards voting for him are a) he has publicly said he wants to issue more CCWs than McDonnell and b) it would be good if an incumbent sheriff lost for once. I also don't believe he has any chance of winning. I don't like other things about him, especially that he's not going to cooperate with ICE and he has been endorsed by a group that hates white people, but oh well, he's not going to win anyway.
