For the record, it will be two months tomorrow and of course nobody got any refunds. Looks like his "come back every couple of weeks and stall" tactics were successful.

I posted all the info I had on Jason but I see it was removed by a moderator. I'll PM it to anyone that wants it. I was not able to verify his physical address through my San Diego contact. It may be legit and it may not be. People are free to take it and go knock on the door.

PM me for the contact info

Oh yea, he's gone and never coming back. At least no one else will every get robbed by this piece of dung. Someone on here sent me a address for him in Florida. Seems he really may have moved our of state and out of San Diego county jurisdiction.

Well 3 months without an update. I'm guessing this particular saga has run it's course. I hope this follows Jason for quite some time.

Hello,

I had a fraudulent voicemail left on my phone. In searching Google for the address to report the activity, I entered "phone fraud" figuring it would get me to the Do Not Call registry (I have my number on there).

Instead, it took me to this page: http://www.stopfraud.gov/report.html

Thought it might be of use.

Regards,

Josh

Maybe it's because I don't have Facebook... I thought I could at least view the page though. Oh well...

Anyhow, I pulled this screen grab from a Youtube video. Someone enjoying steak and lobster.

And this is the reason I don't do group buys on calguns. I've been a regular on calguns for a little over a year now and every 2-3 months there is always a company that comes up or a individual trying to setup a group buy and taking full deposits before delivering the goods. It always end up with a bunch of members getting ripped off. If you're planning to do a pre-order or group buy make sure you put on a credit card. If you don't get your part by the 59th day then dispute the charges with your credit card company. It's actually kind of sad, with almost everyone on here being a gun enthusiast and owning firearms, I thought there would be more mutual respect within members on this board. I've seen more members get ripped off here then any car forum I have ever been on.

So if a new company has 10 cnc machines doing a prebuy for June delivery, with no pics, address or phone number on their website, are they trustworthy ?

Normal businesses just take out a loan, make the product, then sell it. This kickstarter-esque business of preselling everything can work great, but you need to understand that there's an excellent chance you'll be screwed, intentionally or unintentionally. That's why on kickstarter they always have a big risks section of why it might not work out.

Couldn't agree more, however it might be less sentiment and more of the reality, unfortunately. The common misconception is that as "gun-owners" there is this shared/mutual respect, but it's the one interest I can point to, growing up, wherein my father got screwed over twice - different people, different scenarios. That's probably the reason I avoid things like this group buy like the plague.

That being said it's always amazed me how I have met some of the most upstanding and straightorward individuals as well as some of the most back-handed and untrustworthy wastes-of-skin, in the same hobby.

Of course the latter are probably the same guys b__tching (the loudest) about how this hobby takes all the lumps

As one might now wonder by one of Jason's post evoking my name, as my original posted offer was deleted, Jason (Expertish) never took my offer seriously to help fund him by purchasing any of the "select" Mosins or his mentioned "heirloom" firearms, other than a vague single-sentence PM asking me where I was located (which was irrelevant if I were planning on meeting him at the FFL of his choice, to do FTF or PPT at an FFL, while paying him cash to purchase his hand-picked Mosins or "heirlooms").

But now, after seeing the crap he has pulled since September when I first made my offer, I want nothing to do with the guy. I am somewhat glad the mods deleted my original post. Even if he now contacted me to sell me what he has, that would just be me walking into a known problem and not paying attention to the clear and obvious warnings.

However, I still think more could have been done, or can still be done to entice him to return the stolen money to people, without the legal expenditure.

By example, about 6 years ago I bought a classic car speedometer at $150.00 from a guy up in Modesto, selling parts on a car-forum like Calguns. He didn't deliver, reneged, and left several people hanging. I paid him through a USPS Money Order. I gave him about 2 months to which it was excuse after excuse, and then he just disappeared. He was using a P.O. Box, but I was able to make connections online from his username and real name, to find out his home-address.

Not wasting any more time, I contacted the Post Office; they began an investigation. Then separately, I contacted the local Sheriff where he lived; they took the report and actually went to his house because they mentioned they had other reports of his online selling and not delivering (into multiple thousands of dollars).

I was then contacted by a deputy Sheriff of all people, 3 weeks later, telling me that they spoke with him (he had taken others for more expensive parts) and that they "persuaded" the guy to make things right (or else) and that we has sending me a return money order.

A week later, sure enough, a 7-11 money-order for the full amount arrived in my mail-box. No explanation other than a post-it note that said "sorry".

No log on for 2 months and no effort to pay, all bets are off.

If you have info or advice regarding legal action post it up involved or not.

Yeah, it's about $5K. As far as I know not a single person either contacted the postal inspectors or law enforcement over this. I don't understand it.
