Default Our BLM spot was trashed.

This morning, my girlfriend and I headed out to our favorite San Diego county BLM spot with our dog so we could check out my CMP Garand. Once we got there, we realized that some a-hole had an awesome time with his Saiga 12, AR, and Mosin. This POS failed to do any sort of cleanup and shot at cases of beer and wine bottles and left his shotgun hulls, brass, and tons of broken glass and clays everywhere. We spent about an hour cleaning up and filled three lawn and leaf bags before we even began shooting, and the spot still could use some work. Only upside to this is that the dude shooting his Mosin left 100 rounds of Winchester brass on the ground. Looks like its time to get another 7.62x54r and some dies. Just a message to new Calgunners, or anyone who cares: Clean up your crap. I would hope most Calgunners would do so, but we have a lot of new people on here who might not know how lucky we are to have the few BLM places we do in San Diego.

Just a little Rant, but I think it's a valid one.

Wonderful. Probably the one we cleaned a few weeks ago. It was just about spotless when we left. Check your PMs.

Thanks for cleaning up! I don't get to that neck of the woods, but its nice of you to do it. I see way to many people who couldn't care less about where they throw their garbage. A-holes!

last time i was out at my (not so secret anymore) spot in north county SD, i picked up a crap-ton of some buttclown's shells as well....its pretty infuriating to think some jerk had a blast shooting all his ammo and took off without even picking up one shell.
my 12 year old son heads out with me alot and he hates picking up shells but the habit is starting to form...last time i didnt even have to tell him, he just got a bag and started picking up brass.

I remember going to Kitchen Creek with my dad and his friends when I was growing up. The place was gross, you were nearly ankle deep in shells and brass and shot at trash and shot out appliances. That place is long since closed and for good reason. I do not want to see any more BLM spots closed to shooting because of this. The broken glass pissed me off the most, mainly because of the sheer volume of it, and the fact that we really had to watch where we threw the ball for the dog between shooting so he didn't get glass shards in his feet.

You think that's bad?

We had a spot in Temecula and some douchebag was kind enough to drop off two boats right in the middle of the range.

The broken glass is so annoying because you just can't get all of it up. Just stay away from shooting glass altogether.

Thanks for helping clean up brother.

You know what, we didn't even think to look.

They were both flat bottom hulls, with no engines or other parts.

Completely stripped down, and very faded - you could tell they were sitting in someone's yard for a long time and they finally decided to dump them somewhere.

Pretty dickish move, we always leave with a couple of bags full of trash but had no way to haul two boats out of there.

This seems to be the recurring theme at all BLM spots. My buddy and I (a fellow calgunner) went to our favorite BLM spot just yesterday excited and ready to shoot only to find it trashed with two old tv's, a mini fridge, a bunch of misc garbage, and here's the kicker a 5 gal bucket of used oil knocked over. We were pretty upset about the trash. We wanted to do a clean up but were Ill equipped in a jeep with no way to haul the trash. It was a huge safety hazard as well being that they dumped everything into a back filled mine. I'm sure it won't be long before there is a green gate with a lock on the entrance. The worst part about it is going to the dumps is free in the town. No class white trash!!!

That pisses me off. It happened to some of my local BLM land,in 1991 the wildflower people got fed up with the low lifes that started leaving all the garbage they shot up. It is now closed to any firearms and since they had to make new signs anyway they decided to add a ban of any OHV use.
The idiots that leave their garbage just don't care that we'll all get shut out soon.

F*cking trash shooters. These people suck. The kind that brings television sets and old computers and sh*t to shoot at.

Very low IQ's.

I put these motherjumpers in the same category as those who dump mattresses into ditches and orchards off county roads.

end rant.

I guess ranger Funk was off that day. Too bad, he does a great job. Last time I was out there it was like heaven. Sounds like these shooters could have been gang related. Rules don't apply to them.

Sucks to here it TriumphAndrew. As one who organizes cleans, it is so frustrating when a-holes trash a site. The more this happens the sooner these places will be shut down. Pisses me off to no end.

Seriously?? That's pretty surprising, considering how much that stuff is selling for right now! There's a family that picks brass at one of the more popular areas down here, so that might explain why we see so little of it.

Should set up some hunting cams and get some license plates and see how regular they come.

This is why I pretty much ignore all the pms I get asking where the BLM spots are. The last two trips I made my spot was mostly clean which was nice to see. Still manage to at least partially fill a trash bag each time with some random small debris/trash.

I was invited to go with someone to their secret spot, we ended up spending more time cleaning the area up than shooting...
Major hatred for people who don't cleanup after themselves!

The sad thing is, is that even if they do shut down various BLM shooting spots, the idiots that do the littering will probably still go there illegally.

Like always, it's the good and honest people that get the short end of the stick.

A special feeling is when you can't haul anything extra out with you and you wonder if people think YOU left the mess.

I wonder if it is possible to start getting local vendors and companies in on BLM cleanups. Like maybe have a raffle also, this could help to bring more people to cleanups, better participation, more incentives (other than just shooting afterwards) and all in all maybe a lil bit more education as well as more watchdogs for when things like dumped boats happen.

Sorry to hear that; unfortunately, shooting attracts a lot of irresponsible people, and it just takes one to ruin it for many responsible shooters.

Glad you posted your story though, it'll help to let people know that trashing shooting spots is not cool and make people aware of what can happen when people start figuring out where the shooting spots are.

Shot for the first time at Christmas Tree Lane yesterday and the Ranger showed up. He was a good guy and tried to make sure that he was educating people on range etiquette and fire danger. You could tell he had seen his share of @sshatery out there and was doing his part to help keep the place open for people to have a place to shoot.

What a shame, those dbags make us look bad. I can't even find a place, or someone willing to share a place anywhere near me, because people can't clean up after themselves or shoot responsibly.

A lot of guys don't like using public land with my brother and me because we make the group police the area we use, even if is not our crap. If we have room for some %$#@&& trash, we take it.

People who leave trash on public land deserve a swift kick to the nuts!
