Arizona is much more professional and objective in their issuance of CCW's than Kalifornia in my opinion. All it takes in Sacramento is someone to file a bogus unprovable complaint and they generally will deny you or revoke your County issued CCW. There is a reason why Sacramento has such a high revoking rating after issuance and that is because their definition of good moral grounds seems to change depending on who does the reviewing in my opinion. But then we have hundreds of different cops using the good Lord knows what subjective standards to judge moral grounds of individuals in 58 counties.

I had my AZ application returned today. I failed to put my name and address on the money order. It's a postal m/o, am I supposed to sign the m/o somewhere??
.
Goes into the mail in the morning again and the time starts over. So far 18 days.

The Mrs. and I took Robin's AZ/UT class in San Leandro (Gun Kraft) yesterday. Great experience and sending off AZ packets this week.

Arizona is very fast. I returned the application, (5/13/2017), after there was a problem.

I receive the permit today 5/22/2017. (9 days)

Thanks to those working the AZ CCW department.

Im getting sick and tired of waiting for my CA CCW so I can apply for my AZ.
Looking for a AZ class in NorCal.
I see the Gun Craft training in San Leandro.
Anyone do classes closer to Sacramento?
Thanks.

Thanks 38Special. Yes, I did read the list.
Figure, short of waiting for my CA CCW approval (item #6), I can take a class like Gun Craft does (item #1).
Was hoping that completing a CA CCW class would qualify (items 1 or 8) but was informed that doesnt work.

Again, just checking to see if there are any AZ classes closer to Sacramento than Gun Craft in San Leandro. If not, will go with them.

Sounds like a CA ccw class would satisfy #1.

This is what I used.
Hunting license doesn't count, has to be the safety course.

Many of my CA CCW students use their CA CCWs as proof of training for AZ. It works just fine.

Call the AZ DPS, CCW dept.
The nice people there will tell you if the CA class is acceptable.
Your instructor might just be trying to get you to pay for another class.

That would be the Firearm (formerly handgun) Safety Certificate.
They don't accept that (I tried)

wpod, call the AZ CCW office? What a great idea!

Just did, and yes, they are very nice.
Informed me that as long as the CA CCW class instructor is NRA Certified, then the CCW class will meet the training requirement.
Yay. Now onto the paperwork.
Thanks again.

The class does not work for some reason people have tried and had their stuff sent back, however if you supply them with a copy of the Ca. CW that meets requirement which makes no sense but that's how it is.

Make sure the Certificate has the instructors NRA # on it or it will get rejected it has happened to a few here.

This.

It's the same with Florida.
The difference is that AZ accepts a copy of the CCW (from any state) as evidence of training, while Florida requires a copy of the class certificate with the instructor name and NRA number.

That's not a problem for most counties as most CCW training is private, and generally done by NRA instructors. San Bernardino does their own training, and though the deputy/officer who conducts the training may in fact by an NRA instructor, there is no certificate issued... just the instructor's initials on your range card and the actual permit.

Just a FYI of changes over the years. My CCW predates the range time that is now required.
