When I bought a brand new Colt 6920, I inspected it first at the shop. It was gouged and had Nicks and dings all over it. I refuse to accept it and had them order another one which came in fine

Typical from the lowest bid government contractor. I bought one in 2012 and sold it, a sloppy gun no better than a $400 Delton, probably worse.

Colt for way too long has relied on their name with no innovations or improvements, and now the quality is slipping even more. You can get a Daniel Defense for not much more and have a much better quality rifle. Colt is going to go the way of Winchester.

Horrible, does it go bang? Does it cut you while doing so? I would have refused pick up. Op talk to Colt and see if they will or can help

Am I the only one surprised by the $1100 price tag?

I was looking at 6920's last week, and was finding them from ~$690 - $750.

Did I miss something or did they go up in price?

I made a post about here on the site. No amount of gunsmithing could fit it, and a phone call and e-mail to Windam were ignored. Ended up swapping a stripped AP upper with the Windam. That worked like a champ. Fork Windam. Horrendous QC and zero tech support.

I do not mean to derail this thread, but I own a Windham Weaponry AR in 5.56 I have had it for a couple years now and put maybe 700 - 800 rounds through it. 100% function in dirty outdoor desert shooting with reloads or whatever I had on hand. I called Windham to ask a question and got a live person on the phone. Who was nice!

I kept it bone stock, including the WW carry handle. No mods at all other than what I needed to make it featureless. Even the sling is the one that came with the rifle.

Anyway, sorry OP. I'd go dump some rounds through that Colt. If it functions properly (it will) just treat it like the tool that it is. I bet a lot of the AR's out there have the same issues as yours, but many people don't even inspect the weapon that closely.
