Default Franchi semi-auto shotguns

I was checking out a Franchi 12G semi auto the other day (instinct or affinity model) can remember which one it was. Are these guns any good? id never heard of them before.

They're owned by Benelli. I believe the Affinity is based on the Benelli inertia system.

There seems to be some good reviews on them over on Shotgun World.

Yea, there's tons of reviews for just about anything shotgun related over there.

I've only handled the Franchi Affinity and Instinct. The Affinity is nice but at that price, I'd rather go with a Remington 1187 or save a little more to get an 1100.

they have more recoil than the 1187 i don't know if its because they are lighter or its the operating method

The 1187 uses a gas system IIRC and the Franchi is an inertia system.

Both a good shotguns but it all depends on what fits you best. Another good one to look at in that price range is the Winchester SX3.

I have handled the Affinity in 20 gauge. As mentioned earlier the inertia driven system is similar to Binelli. Franchi has the return spring under the forearm instead of in the stock. I think you'll also find them lighter than a Remington, which is good and bad. Good for lugging it around hunting upland game, but will recoil more. Had the pleasure to use a Binelli my last dove outing and really liked it. Of course it was a 20 gauge.

Thanks for the feedback. The Franchi seems to fit me pretty well when I shoulder it, I have also tried the Winchester SX3 which fit me well also. I have not yet handled any of the Remingtons other then my 18" barreled 870

My son has the Affinity 20ga and loves it. Its cycled everything we've put in it, including the first 100 rounds were light #8 trap loads. Comes with 5 choke tubes. I pulled the trigger group to clean it a few days ago and the housing is plastic but everything else is metal. Looks just like my Benelli M1S90 inside. I would definitely recommend it.
