Hey everyone. I'm 23, started shooting when I was 9 with a Daisy Model 105 Buck from a close family friend. Hooked ever since. When I turned 18 I bought a 10/22, and since then, added a few more rifles to my gun safe!

I am new, but I am an old fart... however, I thought my son would enjoy the sport so we took him also..

He is 11. Had a blast. Wants to keep going.

Now, all we have to do is find a proper pistol and/or rifle for my son and he will be good to go. That and more classes.

This family fun thing is getting expensive.

21.

Grew up in midwest Texas, with lots of guns in the house. Didn't really start getting into it until I joined the Army though. Looking to make my first handgun purchase here pretty shortly...

21

mom hated guns, had to play duck hunt when she wasnt home... lol,so it took a lot of convincing. had some help from gun loving family side.

bought my first rifle (mosin nagant) at 19 and now I have a meager collection.

I have a C&R , COE, hunting license, NRA membership and set up my reloading bench about two weeks ago. I was going to collect eastern bloc weapons, but now i just want to collect 1911s and CZ75s

I grew up hunting and shooting with my dad as far back as I can remember. I attend San Jose State University, and I'm finally in a position to begin my own firearm collection.

I'm 18, I didn't get my hands on a real firearm till age 13 with a ruger 10/22. I am a total airsoft nerd and play out of love of sport.

I got into marksmanship when I realized I wanted to go into the Army ata young age. Now I own a remington 870, and wil be getting into some practical shooting competitions soon.

I posted in this thread a few years ago....Don't think I'm considered a young guy anymore (along with most of the other people who originally posted in this thread) Glad to see there is a constant steady flow of younger people getting involved in firearms ownership.

I'm 21, that's still young, right? Shooting has been a family joy growing up, so I've been around them for a while.

25 y/o. Been into firearms since 5 or 6. My father used to let me stand on a folding chair at our local pistol indoor range so I could see over the bench. The shooting pictures were great "show and tell" items in Kindergarten

My 14 year old son with my 1956 Winchester lever action 30/30, this was his first time with this gun. He is fast becoming a good safe shooter.

About to turn 22. Believe it or not, my first introduction to real guns was as a civil war re-enactor in middle school. Through my re-enacting unit I was introduced to all kinds of cool weapons (a lot of them had served in the military and were big gun collectors), as well as gun safety and gun technology. I convinced my mom to get me a pellet rifle at 13 years old and ive been trying to upgrade ever since. I went out and got myself a more adult pellet rifle during college. Now that I graduated college I went out and bought myself a Remington 870 as a graduation present and I havent been able to stop going to the range to shoot trap. Also got into hunting and Im going on my first hunt soon (even though its for rabbits haha).

I am 21. My grandpa took me, my dad and my brother out shooting when I was 13 or 14. I have been addicted since then. My first purchase was a Mosin Nagant M44. Now I own the M44, Kar98k, M4gery, M1 Garand, Ruger 10/22 and I just built my first stripped lower last night. In the near future I want to pick up a M1903a3 and Glock 20.

I am 17

Currently working full time in order to save enough money to buy an AK and an AR-15. Most kids my age look forward to their driver's license and first car; I look forward to turning 18 and buying my first gun . I got into guns at an early age, my mom has gun-phobia, my dad owns several 12 gauge and .22 (I want more firepower than that). I like to say that I am so into guns because I was born in Arizona, my blood runs RED. I am so glad to see that there are so many citizens of PRK that are just as fanatic about guns as me.

Im 18. Just turned in June. I grew up playing cowboys with my brother and sister and always had a good old fashioned metal cap gun. Anyway, I have played airsoft, but as TheCableGuy said, it just can't compare to a real gun. I'm trying to sell wooden pens (I make some awesome bullet pens!!) that i make to save up for a Ruger New Vaquero, but I cant get one until im 21 anyway, correct?

I'm 22

I started shooting a BB gun when I was around 6. My dad got me and my older brother identical guns and a box of a few thousand bb's. A few hours later we were out of bb's, all of my grandma's song birds were dead(she wasn't happy), and a lot of pop cans were shot in half. I even almost put my eye out due to a ricochet...

I finally got a 20 gauge 870 from my dad when I finished hunter's safety. I bought a Mauser when I was 13 or 14 and ended up selling it to fund my 30-06 Savage when I was 15. That summer I started to reload for my 06 and shoot almost everyday. My uncle gave me a press and the basic tools to get started. Until recently when my parents moved the reloading bench i built commanded the corner of my room. That rifle and reloading kept me out trouble for a long time.

Now I've spent a little over 4yrs in the Marine Corps and will be getting out in 6 weeks. I've bought an xDm 9mm, S&W M&P15T, and a 10/22 since I've been in and these guns have been a huge part of getting a few new shooters hooked on the sport. I competed in the Western Division Match this year and got a bronze even though I blew the second day of competition out of my ***. Had a chance to shoot with the Marine Corps Rifle team this summer but had to decline due to hip surgery.

Anyway that is probably overly detailed but it's really easy for me to get carried away with this stuff.

I'm 26 and I got bit with the bug at a very early age (7). My dad taught me how to handle and make safe everything he thought I should and when I saw the mechanics it fascinated me beyond words.

First thing I ever shot? Browning Highpower 9mm. Been in love ever since.

You may try looking into a local group like the scouts where it would be controlled. If they aren't up for that, then just study on them for now, do your research and what you may do is go to a range when you're old enough and talk to older guys. I have found old timers were always full of the best advise (not to say us young bucks don't have any, just not the same experiences) and are always willing to share it.

Just turned 21 a few weeks ago, decided to get my first gun to celebrate the occasion. I'm building an AR15, will post pics when I receive my lower (still waiting for the 10 day background check to complete) and finish the rifle.

If anyone wants to shoot here in SD and needs another person to share gas costs (assuming you're going to an outdoor range) or range costs (assuming you're going to an indoor range), let me know.

I know I reported in already, but just took my buddy's daughter up for her first time. Gave her a little bolt action H&R 'plainsmen' and she is in love now. Will soon have another safe, sane, active shooter!

Thank you to everyone else on here who has reported in and is encouraging and teaching others!!

I'm 26. I've always been interested in guns even though my parents were pretty much antis. Shot at many ranges and rented countless guns while in college, bought my first handgun (Ruger p95) in 2009 at the age of 24, right after my wife and I bought our house. In 2010 I added a Mossberg 500 and a Marlin 795 to my collection after my son was born.
