Default No FFL needed

You don't need an FFL to ship a gun. Only to receive one. Just make sure the FFL you are shipping to will receive it. There's no law requiring an FFL to ship but some as policy, not law, won't receive from an individual.

If it is a handgun, it can sometimes be cheaper to have a FFL ship it, depending on their fee (fees vary greatly), since a FFL can ship USPS, whereas a non-FFL can not.

So anyone can ship a gun to an ffl? Say I sold one and the guy wanted it shipped to his ffl. What do I need to include in the box and how do I know it gets unregistered from my name?

Yes, anyone can ship to a FFL, but some FFLs have policies of only receiving firearms from other FFLs.

You need to check to see what the FFL wants. Some FFLs require a copy of your ID, which is not required by law, but then again they are also not required by law to accept it from a non-FFL.

There is a form you can fill out:

http://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/pd...6NLIP0209.pdf?

but it has been said that the records are not really removed.
