Default Walmart Bucket o Bullets

The local Walmart has gotten a lot more .22lr lately. Attached is the Bucket O Bullets showing a price tag of $74.
Walmart is the only store that keeps ammo behind locked glass doors. Except for bird shot. Probably because of those questionable 'People of Walmart'.
The $74 seems steep to me for Walmart.
What's the going price at Walmart in Cali for a Bucket?

I think it was $75 during the Great .22lr Drought.

The best price was maybe $59.00, typically $69.00

Here in KomiKali back during the .22 mega shortage I found two Remington Gold Bucket o' Bullets 1400 round count for $89.99 each. Not bad considering the times at .0639 cents ea. before tax. The guy at the (not Walmart) counter freaked out because I was contemplating buying one more-there were only five in the store and as a loss leader "on sale" but with no limit.
Sure, I'd read how dirty, etc. those rounds were but just to have some surplus .22Lr on hand during the "depression" was comforting.
BTW-to date the two buckets have yet to be opened but I have shot many boxes of smaller quantity .22LR bulk Remington Golden without a mechanical hitch in semi auto rifle/handgun, lever and revolver. Dirty? I clean my guns after shooting so that's not an issue to me.
Some folks here will disagree.

so finding ammo for about .4 cents is a good deal? Just wondering since I just picked up some .22 rifles and pistols lately. I picked up those Walmart Remington Thunderpacks but haven't shot them yet just so I could have some ammo on hand.

Many of those questionable people of Walmart, are the employees. Walmart loses 1 percent of it sales of 300 billion dollars a year.

Well the new laws in California prevent ammo from being accessible to customers, including at gun shows. All ammo has to be "behind the counter", but it looks like a locked ammo cabinet, like most of the Walmarts around my neck of the woods have, meets the requirement.

I dropped by one of the Walmarts where I used to get ammo today, just to check out the situation. I was disappointed to see that they just decided to stop selling ammo. I stopped at another store that was on my way home, and they still were selling it...for now at least.

I'm wondering if anyone has tried the carve out in the law that allows you to buy online and have it delivered to a place authorized to transfer the ammo. Not sure how it actually works, since most online places pretty much just stopped shipping to California anyway. I'm also wondering how that law works with the other local ordinances, that don't allow shipping ammo to certain cities/counties, and whether it's OK is you ship it to one of the authorized transfer places.
