Default Federal 9mm HST one different cartridge inside.. Help me identify

I opened a new box of 9mm 147grain HST Federal. From a case of 1,000.

There was 49x 9mm 147gr. HST and there was one 9mm of some other hollow point.

Wonder how's the quality control being life depends on the defense ammo.

This happen to anyone else here?

Anyone know what line of that odd ball brass Federal 9mm is from?

No, but it was made in 2017 and probably over-stock from gov't orders...

Probably not in your case but I've seen many yahoo's opening boxes of factory ammo from the shelves of stores. Pulling rounds from boxes and comparing them to rounds from other boxes or manufacturers. A very good way to get a mismatched bullet in a box you buy.

Tell us where the ammo originated? How did it end up in your stock?

Back when everyone was selling ammo , sears , wall mart . K- mart ,
etc it was normal to find mismatched ones .
This did not even become a reason to reload . It was a reason to check
every round .
Now a days the only time we buy cartridges is if it is something we don't already reload . Want to shoot as soon as out of jail .

SGAMMO. I ordered 1,000 rounds in factory sealed case.

Being a self-defense round I hope they have good quality control. imagine if 1 out of 1,000 rounds has no powder, faulty primer or over loaded powder etc.

Call me paranoid, but I wouldn't shoot that round in my gun.

Plus, I'll bet if you contact SGAmmo, they'll refund the amount for a whole box or send you a new box for free.

Good luck.

It looks like a 124gr.

Corbin marks their brass cases with that roll, didn’t know that FC does also but the headstamp is FC.

I have seen similar anomalies. The last round in a production batch gets hung up in the packaging machine. Then when the new batch is run the leftover round dislodges and is packed with the new batch.

I have seen it with ammo as well as with nuts, bolts and screws.

I wouldn't be too worried about it.

I suppose the equipment making the brass round was cleared out, and then set up to make HST. Your mystery round was stuck somewhere on the equipment, was jarred loose when production ramped up for the HSTs and just happened to make it into your box.

If it appears in good condition, OAL measurements are good, weighs about the same as the HST, then I would even consider shootin it. Or just toss it to be safe. But I wouldn't be worried about the other 49 rounds in the box.

I wish it was a golden ticket scenario though, that would be awesome.
