Default BOOTS: Danner Acadia vs thorogood trooper

So I need a new work boot and I currently have the thorogood troopers in a size8 regular. They are very comfortable however they are wearing out agter about a year and a half and I have heard great things about danner Acadias. How do you guys like your danners and do you think I should switch? Also how do the sizes run? All the boots I have bought have been an 8 regular or an 8.5regular. Will I be fine with a size 8?

Thanks for your help!

Year and a half sounds good, mine only last me a year. I have Danner Arcadia's, very comfortable, I get them resoled when I need. Hold a shine very well, mine ran true to size, but they are a little heavy compared to some of the other boots out there...

I've had both. The Thorogood's were more comfortable but the soles wear out too fast. I have had the same Danners for 7 years now and get them re-soled every 2 yrs for $65.

I have a Danner. It was fine. But, when I was on patrol, I used to wear Rocky boots. I had 2 pairs and I rotated them every few days. They fit me like a pair of tennis shoes.

To me, Danner sizes are not consistent. I used to wear size 9, and it was pretty tight. I bought a new pair, and they are size 8 1/2.

Danner 21210 Acadia. They are built with stitch down construction so they are able to be rebuilt. As far as the width, get measured by someone who knows what they are doing. If I recall correctly Danner only makes the acadia in a D or EE width (narrow and wide) if they feel too narrow, you can get them stretched at the factory. USA made products with an excellent customer service base.

Both are good boots. Depends on what feels best.

I recently bought the Danner Arcadia boots for my new job.

They feel great, polish up with ease, and the quality throughout the boot is outstanding. I cannot comment on how well they hold up as I have only worn them for over a month, but so far everything is great.

They are pricey, but I think they are worth it. I have never worn full size boots that are as comfortable as the Danner's.

My preference is very much for the Danner's. I've has surgery to both of my feet and find that most footwear just doesn't work well. The only boots that have worked well for me are the Chippewa insulated and the Danner Acadia's. Everything else either lacked support, or just would not break in well.

Since my agency has banned the Chippewa (due to its safety toe), I'm left with the Danners.

I have worn Danner Acadia...which are okay....Danner Recons are same as acadia but ALL leather...very nice, but my personal favorite that I wear every day are the Danner Fort Lewis which are 10 inch high, verse the Acadia and Recon which are only 8 inch high. The Fort Lewis gives me way more ankle support, all leather, but you will pay no less than 350.00 for them unless you find a deal or have a hookup. Good Luck

danners are great boots, i own four pairs, just the break-in takes a long time. if you're on your feet all the time. they are going to be hurting. get some cushy insoles and don't use those plastic ones that come with the boots.

I love my acadias! finally shelled out the cash after 8 years in service and they are the best boots ive ever owned. Won't ever go back to anything else. Done magnum, 511, thorogoood, oakley etc.... and they all pale in comparison

I've had both and highly recommend the Danners. My near new Thorogood's got wet and it ruined them (cheap, non quality leather imo). Danners do fine in wet environments.
