After another years worth of Pistol / Carbine courses, I decided to refinish my old Colt, and lighten it a bit whilst reassembling from scratch.

Back from Cerakote, and not all the parts are pictured, but the lower parts includes a Raddlock, a V7 magazine catch, V7 57 degree selector, V7 receiver extension, V7 end plate, V7 castle nut, V7 buffer retainer, a carbine buffer, JP spring, and of course, my old AR Gold trigger, in addition to Armalite NM pivot and take-down pins, which locks the action together like a bank vault.

Refinished Colt M4 upper, in addition to my old Colt pencil barrel, which weighs 1.388lbs, and is exactly identical to the weight of a BCM ELW-Fluted barrel.

Small parts include a V7 titanium flash hider, V7 titanium gas block, V7 titanium KMR barrel nut, V7 forward assist, and a V7 port door assembly.

Very nice. Gotta love the Armalite NM pins. First thing I recommend to anyone who has upper/lower play and is bothered by it. Can't wait to see her all back together again.

Yep, I have a set on every rifle I own, but recently, it noticed that Armalite is only manufacturing the pivot pin. The take-down pin is no longer available.

Completely assembled, the upper weighs 2.47lbs. To compare, a BCM KMR13 / ELW-F upper weighs 2.74lbs, so the Colt is .25lbs lighter.

Pick this up Xmas eve morning, broke it in Friday evening. LE6920CA, MOE SL stock and handguard, MOE+ grip, trigger guard, and BCM Mod 3 charging handle. Sling hardware on the way.

Without BUIS, the rifle weighs 5.15lbs, and with Troy BUIS, weighs 5.34lbs. With a Colt Fiberlite stock, I would be just a smidgeon under 5lbs.

The backstory is the rifle started as a 6920 in early 2011, which weighed 6.9lbs. After a few carbine courses, I switched to the 6720 upper, which features a Colt pencil barrel, and brought the weight down to 6.12lbs. Following the debut of the KMR13, that weight was brought down to 5.75lbs. Between those changes, over a dozen carbine courses, and thousands of rounds fired without a single malfunction, or compromise in reliability. The rifle has been beaten, battered, slammed on the deck, etc., and here we are again.

Regardless of what I do, the rifle will always have Colt's core components, which is the Colt receivers, Colt bolt carrier group, and Colt barrel.

Purchased the TA02 as soon as it was released in 2012, and it is still running on the same battery.
