Thumbs up USAToday: "Trump's conservative judges begin takeover of federal appeals courts"

Good news if/for when Cheeseman goes to CA3.

Quote:
One of President Donald Trump's biggest achievements since entering the White House – making the federal courts more conservative – crossed a major threshold Tuesday.

For the first time, he turned a federal appeals court previously dominated by Democratic presidents' nominees into one with a majority of Republican presidents' choices.

Senate confirmation of Paul Matey to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, with jurisdiction over Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, gave Trump and his GOP predecessors in the White House a 7-6 majority there. The Senate vote was 54-45, largely along party lines.

Matey, 48, a former top counsel to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, became Trump's 35th appeals court nominee to reach the bench with seven more pending, continuing a record pace. The Senate also has confirmed 53 of Trump's picks for federal district courts, with another 54 nominees pending.

The president's goal of remaking the federal judiciary began in January 2017 with the nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. Gorsuch's confirmation and that of Brett Kavanaugh last October have made the nation's highest court more conservative.

<snip>

Trump's 90 confirmed judges also have drawn criticism from Democrats and liberal interest groups because they are overwhelmingly white (92%) and male (76%).

At the critical appeals court level, where more than 50,000 cases are heard annually, Trump has replaced 23 judges named by Republican presidents and 12 named by Democrats.

MAGA. This is why he was elected. If he does nothing else and makes a fool of himself every time he opens his mouth (which he does), his Presidency has been a success.

"Trump's 90 confirmed judges also have drawn criticism from Democrats and liberal interest groups because they are overwhelmingly white (92%) and male (76%)."

So what's the national makeup of judges, lawyers, etc. I'd suspect about the same so what's the problem?

Really? Even the most ardent supporter must agree that he is in no way presidential. Who among us have listened to him speak and not wished his speech was more refined? I voted for him, and will do so again. I think he has done great things, and will do more great things in the future. I also think that he comes across as a moron, which gives the opposition fuel.

Glad to hear more conservative Article 3 judges and Justices getting confirmed, but this is a joke

that's like saying there's a circuit court with jurisdiction over nothing but Southern California

need to break up the 9th into many tiny pieces

IDK, I've heard him say some things that he could probably have communicated better. But I don't recall him say9ing that made him look the fool outright.

I have heard him several times and listened twice to his State of Union and have not found him lacking in delivery, subject matter or relevance.

Im thinking your impression of him is a result of several soundbites created by the democrat media. Otherwise a link or 2 would have been forthcoming !

Not junk I read, but instead junk I hear. I cringe when I hear him talk because I want him to sound like a statesman, but I know it will not happen. Speech writers are paid professionals who make those giving the speeches appear informed and competent. Our President goes off script too often. Some like it and others do not. I am in the do not category even though I give full throated support to him because of his actions.

President Trump has done a marvelous job with the economy and judges and he is not HRC. This is enough to be a very good President. A great President is one who can persuade those not aligned with his position to move closer to it. Regan was the Great Communicator, and I wish Trump could at least be the Good Communicator so he could be a great President.

A 7-6 majority is great for en banc panels, but the selection of 3-judge panels is theoretically random, meaning that it would not be uncommon to have 2 democrats on any give n gun rights panel.

first off, I voted for Trump. Second, I will vote for him in 2020.

But lets face to those of you who say he is a good president, he is absolute embarrassment to the office and destroying the prestige of the office with every tweet. President Carter must be jumping with joy, screaming "I am no longer the worst".

But being a single issue voter, guns and some one who cares a little about the second issue, illegal imigration, I agree Trump is great in those 2 categories and that is why he will get my vote again, I simply don't care about the other issues. I do hope he gets one more Supreme Court justice and replaces MANY more in the 9th.

That is going to be his legacy, the judges he appointed that will be there for years to give future democrat presidents a hard time and slow down our path to socialism.

Your perception of how a statesman should sound like is skewed by numerous duplicitous asshandles you heard so often.

Trump sounds just fine. At least he verbalizes what he actually thinks, without a copious amounts of weasel words.

I respect your opinion but disagree with it. Isnít it great to be free to do that without the need to call each other racist or something.

We voted Trump in because we were sick and tired of politicians.

I don't care how he talks. I want action!!

Now let's talk about politicians. For 2 years the Republicans had control of Washington. They could have done any thing that they wanted to do.

But, all that they wanted to do is attack Trump.....But boy o boy, they sure were good speakers!

Take care

You need to read some history. Former presidents have been MUCH worse as far as public speaking is concerned. And Carter was jumping up and down knowing he wasn't the worst when Obama was in office.

Yup.

Sure trump as pushed the limits for what a president can say and do, but this has all been a direct response to Obamaís intersectional politics, which claims everyone is racist who does not conform, and has resulted in actual socialist taking over a huge portion of the Democratic Party. The difference is the left has a more polished version of disgracing the office of the president.

Previous presidents have openly said far worse. This notion that Trumpís language is somehow new is a joke and narrative pushed by the left. Democrats stopped respecting formalities, order, and general civility during Clarence Thomasís confirmation hearing. They have feinged civility when it meets their talking points (Obama), but I find the leftís behavior far more egregious than Trump saying crude things. When the GOP tried civility we ended up with Romney and McCaine. I know Iím engaging in tribalism, but when the stakes are Trump vs. people who want to destroy capitalism by any means necessary, Iím not sure how anyone could see Trumpís remarks as ďover the lineĒ.

Thank God for President Trump- It is great to have a President who dares to speak the truth and who tries to do something to help our country. Don't give a damn that he steps on some toes. IMO it's often funny as hell.

Obama was a disgrace, smooth talker and that was it. It is now coming out that he was behind the spiking of the evil fat bat getting charged for risking national security with her non secure email servers. It just came out today- during the FBI political bias attempted coup investigation.

Disgusting...

He (Obama)turned the CIA, the FBI and the IRS into a type of Neo Bolshevik New Democrat political police- a de facto revival of the Communist Cheka. And he used those agencies to attack his political rivals.

Along with a long list of other anti American antics- Obama was the worst president ever.

Obama never said a GD thing he meant..

President Trump does not have that problem.

MAGA!

It's pretty hilarious when people like you mock President Trump and insult his intelligence.

He is literally a billionaire founder of a global business empire who beat not just one, but SEVERAL well established political dynasties in his very first bid for public office, but yeah....keep telling yourself he's a fool.

Unless you have credentials anywhere near his, I'd suggest you instead consider what you stand to learn from the man.

Have you ever read any of his books?

How many books have you written, by the way?

This guy gets it.

Also; L.O.-(*&^%&^.L at people who whine about Trump saying mean things, meanwhile the left is literally photographing themselves with an effigy of his bloody, severed head, making multiple videos & photos of them assassinating him, telling the public that his 12 year old son should be "locked in a closet with pedophiles."

And that's just a 0.000001% example of what I can remember offhand.

Yeah....Trump is the bad guy here....

And that's just a 0.000001% example of what I can remember offhand.
Yes -- remember how they went after his young son, Baron? That's the real left.

Oh and back to the OP, it's sad that when Trump mentions "Obama judges" Roberts pipes up, but USA Today is free to have a headline talking about "Trump's conservative judges" and Roberts is silent.

How do you know where the President is and what he is doing at 5AM?

As a point of reference his angry tweets are always 100% accurate and informative.

If you disagree with the accuracy of his tweets. Please post a few links so I can better understand what you are referring to.

In Politics, he who controls the narrative wins.

I believe that he wakes up every morning and does something along these lines.

Boys and girls of the mainstream media, this is going to be today's narrative. At which point he lobs out one of his tweet grenades. The MSM then pounces on it and are distracted for the rest of the day while Trump gets busy with running the country.

I love your added twist of him lobbing his tweet grenade while seated on his crapper!

It doesn't matter when the 9th is full of nutty Obama picks that will challenge any Trump favored law for the simple reason it's Trump.

Thanx Mike,
He said, "Ive been to all 57 states one left to go, my staff would not allow AK. Hi." so one left means He thinks 58 or not going to AK and Hi means 59 or maybe 60 ?

Concur, with the exception of "opening his mouth." His State of the Unions have been excellent. And I like his tweets. Shows he is not a politician and that he doesn't give an RFA on what anyone thinks. Did you really want another four years of a politician? I like him because he talks like us, not like some polished up ****bag lawyer.

I don't care if what he says is Presidential or not as long as he keeps appointing conservative Federal Judges.

One more on the SCOTUS and I would be happy.

Two more. Replace Ginsburg, and replace Thomas with a younger version of himself.
