Default [pls help me decide] Anderson 18" Competition 3 Gun Elite Complete Upper

hi, folks

I am about to order this Anderson Manufacturing 18in Competition 3 Gun Elite Complete Upper . it is 10% off from opticsplanet.

the upper I am looking at, are for range/precision shooting AR-15(223/556), so looking at 18"+ upper, and I am not exactly (money-wise) ready for a Daniel Defense yet.

BTW, from other website, it is indicated as 223 Wylde, but didn't clearly state on Opticsplanet. Anyone has experience with it?

Nothing against anderson. I have a couple of their lowers. But for those prices i would rather you get an Aero precison upper or troy or cmmg. They offer similar uppers for similar prices.

I got a White Oak upper really close to that. A Rock River R3 competition complete upper is like 750 more. If you are looking for quality, I'd consider those two.

BA is now owned by AeroP. Same price for what you are looking at, no 10% discount,

If you buy from BA, call them and ask for that free VG6 brake

I like Anderson receivers. I have no experience with their barrels.

The BCM 18" stainless uppers are in that price range.

Based on this other thread about Optics planet, they might not even sell it to you

Once you add the BCG and charging handle (which are included with the Anderson) the price goes up to like $900. Not a knock on BCM, I have a BCM 16" complete upper.

To the OP, I don't think it's a bad deal, just getting the same barrel and muzzle brake separately would be close to $400. Add the receiver, adjustable gas block, gas tube, BCG and charging handle and the labor to put it together and I don't think you'd be getting ripped off.

But Anderson has been put through the wringer with many of their lowers having out of spec buffer detent hole placement and buffer tube threading and their refusal to replace them. I have one Anderson stripped lower with no issues. Take it with a grain of salt when considering getting a complete upper from such a company.
