Anyone know why their site is down and not accepting any new applicants to even get on the waiting list? It's been down all weekend and I'm not seeing anyone say that they can't get it to work.

Yes, the site is back up. But, how would one get on the waiting list? Does it do it automatically? I see no options to get on it myself.

Just enter your DL and last name then hit submit. Continue to the end. Even if you can't get an appt now you'll be on the waiting list when the next batch comes.

Schedule an appointment first. You bring your application to the appointment. Instructions are here http://www.sacsheriff.com/organizati...heriff/ccw.cfm.

Thanks squirrel.

Wow the website site says "there are no available appointments at this time. We will email once one is available."

That's pretty lame. What do you guys think this really means?

Thanks.

When they post appointments, they are all filled up within a day or so. They won't email available appointments as they have a 7000 person wait list as of February. They don't have time to send emails about available appointments. Or so i was told.

Checked on the 3rd of March, got Initial Appointment for New Issuance on March 12.

Checked 3-4 times a day. Appointment calendar was down the week prior.

Seems they just pop up whenever.......

Appointments are up! Just checked, and it now says a "few" remain. Like others have said, they won't send you an email when appointments become available. Just check it daily, morning and night. Made an appointment yesterday, scheduled for April.

I have the same question. I was interviewed on March 4th. I had no problems as the process went very quickly. I have no criminal history, no tickets, etc. But unfortunately I have not recieved conformation email yet.

My 2 year renewal today. Sheriff answered some questions.
What if I have multi calibers for one gun?
As long as you qualify with each caliber on that gun then your good.
One gun + multi caliber qualification still counts as one of your three listed.
No more gun change appointments.
But if you have a change of address you can change guns at that time as long as you have your qualifications.

Glock 20 to .38 super to 9x25 to .40 to .357 sig to 50GI to .45

You should hear back in 4 to 6 weeks, first to the middle of April. Once you receive an approval you do your Live Scan and it will be another 4 weeks before that comes back.

Mine went:

Initial: 12/19
Approval: 01/31
Live Scan: 02/07
Training completed: 03/02
Live Scan back: 3/07
Permit Issued: 3/19
...

Searching back in the thread I see quite a few people have gotten approved within two weeks. I think it will all depend on how quickly they can do your background check. If there's lots to go over then it may take longer.

I'm one of those lucky 2 week turnaround approval. Background check started and they quoted 30 - 45 days.

Yes that is the site. Be sure you get on the waiting list. ie - attempt to schedule an appointment now and it should tell you that there are no available appointments. I think, that is what got me on the waiting list ( and when you put your last name and DL# the next time around, the next page should have your info pre-populated).

To hopefully clear up some confusion.
SSD sends out 300 emails notifying of 150 new apts. (generally or however many they release that time) You must be the next 300 on the list (1-300) who haven't gotten an apt to get the email. As those people get apts and drop off the waiting email list the next people are up for the email notification the following new apt release. So if you just got put on the waiting list you are behind thousands and thousands of other people who've been waiting for months or longer.
It's not that your "not" receiving the email. It's that your not "up" to receive the email yet.
Another helpful tip is subscribe to this and the other more used Sacramento CCW thread. As soon as people catch on that apts are released, someone usually post "HURRY UP! NEW APTS RELEASED!" If your subscribed you'll get a notification of a post and whalla! You'll know to rush to the SSD site and snag an apt! That's another way to get an apt faster.
Hope this helps. Keep checking regularly! Good Luck!

Default Wes teaches a great class...

http://lfiguns.com/ Wesley Lagomarsino has CCW classes for several counties as well as Utah, Oregon, Virginia, etc. Normal fee is $200 but Wes discounts all referrals, Calguns members, NRA members, Military personnel, etc. to $175.

.

I followed the instructions from SAC Sheriff to the letter.. took the training and qualified AFTER LiveScan. Got my appt for final signing in a week so this is almost a done deal. 30 days from beginning to end.. I would recommend Wes for your 16hr and qualification.. he really knows his stuff and his use and training of combat grip is unparalleled.. it helped me stay on target.

You quoted a post from 2010 which I haven't bothered to update. Instructions from SSD are much clearer now than they were back when things were just getting rolling in 2010. I used Wes for my renewal training in 2012. I might just use Sac Valley's instructor for my renewal later this year.

Final issuance this morning.

No issue with listing SSE Shield.

3months and I didn't push it, could have been done quicker.

Does anyone know if you have to get a address modification if your work address changes? My work address is listed on my permit and I have changed jobs. Also can you get a weapon added during the same appointment?

I don't know about the work address, but I changed my home address and I was able to make a gun change.

I know someone who had the same issue last year - was within a few months of renewal. Emailed Amber at the office, and she replied at that time that it was OK to wait until the normal renewal appointment.

If you're unsure, send her an email - she will let you know if they have changed policy on it.

Thanks guys for the tips. I emailed amber and was told no need to come in for work address change. She also noted that they are not doing both address and weapon mods at the same time currently.
