Resort fees and parking can't be avoided. It's the new norm. Still a great deal IMO vs paying $100+ a night plus those fees. Makes for a cheap(ish) Vegas vacation vs normal rates.

Diamond status excludes you from both.
Just have to play some $$$$$

It used to be you could fly up and back for under $20 (the same day no rooms)... And they gave you free comp certificates for chips... regulars (retirees) going every week on same flight... Once in while was even free...

Meh, cheaper to pay it. Many comp chasers can't due simple math and end up paying (in losses) many times more than the item(s) they are seeking for "free". It can be ridiculous at times. Even video poker players who play advantaged theos with large coin in can end up doing this as the variables don't always line up every time. Plus it seems like a lot of work when you really think about it and you are limited to properties within the network of CET, Mlife, Byod, Stations, or Identity at Cosmo. I like to casino hop and can buy my own bottle, chicken wings, water, ride etc. It works for some but seems like nothing but stress/worry/begging when people describe it....

Some people win not to mention free suites, rooms , offers gifts and casino play. Makes Vegas way more fun

Some people win "sometimes" but all those huge buildings and glittering lights aren't there because people extract money from the casinos as a matter of course. I get that some look at it as a "cash back/kickback" reward type (on losses) and the excitement factor but it does not make much fiduciary sense was my main point.

Blowing 10-50K a trip so you can get a limo ride, room, chicken wings/water/snacks/drinks in a lounge, "VIP" check in, free food and beverage credits seems foolish to me. You can usually buy all that for 1K. I guess if you are gonna blow it anyway then it is a nice perk but "status" is highly overrated IMO and many (without large amounts of disposable income to write off in losses) are just fiscally foolish chasing the "big shot status". There are definitely more doing it than "should" be IMO. Great for the casinos though!

Thanks i’ll look into this.

Never understood why people worry or question what other people do with their money though.

Mainly because this is a "deals" forum which implicitly means saving money. Vegas is by definition a sucker's bet.

You win some, you lose some, I've taken my share in losses, but on the flip side I've also taken most of it back. For what I've loss I've gotten back in comps for hotel stays, food, shows, spa days. 1 thing is for sure when I choose to go to Vegas it's already a loss and chalk it up to entertainment value. Winning your money back is just a bonus. I'm definitely a sucker when I choose to be but I having fun doing it.

I can't keep track of how many times a gambling addict has always said "but I've won most of it back" and couldn't be further from the truth. At least you admit you're a sucker for it but you have fun doing it. To each their own, that's what disposable income is for I suppose. But like others have already mentioned, this is a deals section and in vegas those are very hard to come by.

I know vegas is hurting badly right now with slow business and all the major casino stocks getting murdered, all the meanwhile they continue to build new casinos/resorts. Expect massive advertisement to come this year to get people back to their tables.
