Many stores in CA have a Lay-Away program. You can buy all the new handguns you want in a single purchase. You can only DROS 1 every 30 days. The 30 days starts when you submit the DROS, not when you pick it up.
The place I go tells me as long as I pay for the guns, they will hold them indefinitely.
I recently bought 2 new XD9's. They are paid for and on HOLD. I did start the DROS on the first one. This will eventually be transferred too my daughter (she is under 21). The 2nd is for my Son and I will have him DROS it under his own name.

S&W M&P 40

A bit of panic buying after NY was able to ram a bill through in 5 days: I was worried that Leland Yee might try something here targeting pistols, so I better buy my range toy now.

Finally got to start the 10 days on my first 1911. The lockup was so tight that the loose SSE barrel had to be refit. Even then, you eagle eyed guys might notice the slide is a half mm out of full lockup.

I can't wait to pick this up! I was really surprised at how tightly everything was fit (and I had high expectations).

Wow, looks tight to me:

Looks pretty damn good for a factory job:

Two weeks before the factory fire!

I put a S&W M&P 40 in jail today. I've had my eye on it for a while. Wifey finally gave me the go ahead. She said, though, no presents until after next Christmas.
That's okay. It's worth it.
Now I'll just have to dream about taking it out to the range until the 5th.

Have a Glock 30 in the jail house, going on day 7 tomorrow. I was so excited I actually found one I bought it on sight.

Just put a S&W M&P 22 in jail. I need a cheap way to get some trigger practice in. I would've put a GSG 1911 22 in jail too but the LGS I went to wanted me to come back in 30 days to DROS the 2nd gun. There's another LGS I usually go to that lets me do all the paperwork once and just come in and pick them up after the 10 day waits. I'll go back to them for the GSG.

They spent no time in jail, but I picked up a brace of Tokarevs and took them home an hour after they arrived at the FFL. C&R and COE make them exempt from 10 day wait and 1 in 30 days purchase limitation.

Apparently I was unable to get the rifle I wanted. I ended up with a slightly nicer one. The rifle has been ordered, but not even in the 10 day wait. My Rod & Gun club sells them at manufacturer cost plus DROS fee, so getting a Savage Arms Mark II BTV for $385. If it weren't rimfire that thumbhole stock would make it an "assault weapon" lol. Looking forward to playing with the heavy barrel.

I have some ammo that I found with a backorder option! 2k rounds for a bit over $100 for .22 LR isn't bad, but I don't know when I'll get it.

Just had a LR 308 locked up. Brought half of it home for my already broken out lower.

I think I hear the range calling for me today...
