Question not extracing every cartridge.

one of my lever rifles tends to not extraxt all of the cartridges.

pulls them out a "tad", but not enougth to eject.

yes i cleaned the gun very good. oiled it up.

get a burn half way down one side of the cartridge (45 long colt cowboy rounds).

otherwise gun works great.

bad extracter?
chamber get fouled up way too fast? but still works same no matter how many rounds.
bad chamber? why not all rounds? only one every so often?

If the cartridge is staying in the chamber, the extractor is jumping the rim.
You mention black soot on the outside of the cartridge which means you are running low pressure loads that do not properly seal the chamber.
This lack of sealing allows the chamber to get carbon fouled.
The carbon could be helping the cartridges stick in the chamber.

So look at why the extractor tension is weak, clean the chamber and bump up the loads so that there is no black on the outside of the case and the chamber will stay much cleaner.

but would this not effect most if not every cartridge?
as this only happens like around 8-12-20rounds ( not kept count)
does not matter clean or dirty chamber.
but will try cleaning at the range like every X number of rounds.
as to the spring tenson. can this be "adjusted by bending the extractor? or a new one. best i can tell no damage to the " hook".

yes i need to make my own loadings. been shooting factory ammo so far ( couple differen makers). building up my stock of emptys to reload. ( like to load up min 500 rounds at a time). but guess i will do a hand full for testing. worth it if nothing more than to find the sweet loading for the rifle.
