Default Tactical Machining 80% 1911

They're back in stock (slightly different appearance) with free engraving. Who will be first?

(Would have continued the original thread but it's too old)

Now it looks like all the other frames out there, except while others are offering forged frames, TM is offering investment cast frames. I understand Caspians used to make cast frames also, and they should be good to go, but I'd still rather stick to forged frames.

i concur with pklin's assessment...my last TM frame (aside from many asymmetries) had several very noticeable casting defects.

I have two of them pics to follow,
These are GI style frames so no rail, no frills, standard feed ramp etc.
I liked the old ones they should sell both, and i do believe they own the castings but not 100 on that.
There are casting scars on one, the other came stained probably either the oil they used or didnt clean it.
Laser engraving so its not clean or pretty.
Alot, or its just my taste but, there have been many casting pimples especially inside i had to take a file to work them down.
All in all i paid 260 shipped for both so i cant cry of most companies want 180-250 for a aluminum one just like it plus tax shopping.

I'm building on a tm 1911 frame and the left side of top deck seems higher right...anyone else seen this on tm frame?

Many people have seen "trouble spots" on TM frames, then there are some who didn't find anything wrong with their's but they are in the minority...

Measure from the slide stop pin hole to the top of the deck and you'll see right away if you have a discrepancy in deck height, assuming the height difference runs the length of the deck. Depending on that measurement, you might be able to use a Matrix decking jig to bring the high side, or maybe both sides down to spec (and hopefully the same height as the low side).

If it were me, since Labor Day is fast-approaching, many 80% frame vendors will be having sales. Pick another one up from vendors like Vytamen C Tactical, 1911builders, etc., and build on instead of continuing to work on the TM (save it for later). You'll most likely have an end product you'll be much happier with.

I build one of the betas and it came together nicely. Still need to cerakote it. There were some minor issues which were corrected for the production models.
