Default Went shooting in sly park...

I don't usually go here, maybe a few tims a year. But I was embarrassed by how much trash was out there. I can't imagine how it looks to anyone else passing through. Gun owners must come across as complete slobs. What other group of people completely trash the land they use?

A truck bed over flowing with garbage we picked up over a couple hours.

Good on you for cleaning up, it is sickening to see places trashed the way they are

We were up today but only collected a half a large leaf bags worth of trash this trip. Most times its a full bag or more. Very happy to see you collect that amount and haul it out. Also when is the open season on road signs ? It's never, don't shoot the dam road signs. We all as tax payers have to pay to replace these expensive signs. One more thing leaving that orange ringed target on a living tree on the left hand side of Mormon emigrant trail road going south bound and shooting at trees is just about the dumbest thing I have seen up there in a while. Don't leave your used targets and don't shoot trees. All these things are what will get this whole area closed to target shooting and hunting. We are more then happy to meet up for a clean up in the sly park area if people will PM or email the week before.

That is great. I was just up there Saturday. Brought back 3 bags of trash plus wood, metal and crap we found out there. Brought tarps to hold it down with straps.

My buddy brought his truck so we could haul it out after shooting. His first time up. He was surprised how messy it was I told him it is usually a lot worse. He then understood why he brought his truck. Must have been thanks to your cleaning up.

We both noted the signs being shot.

We also had a first time shooter with us. He set a target stand in front of a tree. We had to show him the damage to
Other trees and the downed trees to show him why you don't do that.

Thanks OP for your hard work.

Well thanks to both of you for taking out way more then your share. If we all stay on it we might be able to keep using this area a bit longer.

Great to see you guys taking care of the places we have to shoot. I don't make it out very often. I go out there once a year. I also pack out as much trash as I can.

Just to be clear I doubt any Calgun members do any of the littering or damage to our public shooting areas or the sly park area. Removing whole pick up loads of trash is amazing. I thought my bag or two of trash in the back of my SUV was a lot and I see a pickup bed or two of trash thats looking out for all of us.

I remember my Dad and I put someone's fire out one time when we were up there. Cruising down he road see pit smoldering and thought WTF. Nobody in the spot. Nobody even close. And this thing is smoking like chimney. We used most of our water and a pile
Of dirt to Help get it out. It was unbelievable.

Unfortunately Benneti has been a known dump site for as long as Ive been around. I would guess most is from local cranksters not shooters. Thanks for picking up a load.
