Default $10.00 ammo fee

Found this place today. The have an ammo fee of only $10.00 for any sized order. They also do mostly custom work. Really nice guy. They don't stock guns but guy said he can order any roster item usually for less than msrp.

Rifle Gear posted this awhile back

https://www.riflegear.com/t-info.ammotransfer.aspx

Ammunition Transfer Fees

Effective immediately, RifleGear will have the following ammunition vendor fee schedule for ammunition transfers. This fee does not apply to the ammunition available for sale in our store.

Private Party Ammunition Transfer Fee
$5 and no sales tax due.
Both parties must be present to conduct a Private Party Ammunition Transfer.

Ammunition Order Transfer Fee
Invoiced amount up to $400 = $20
Invoiced amount over $400 = 5% of invoiced amount

Storage fees for Vendor Transferred Ammunition Received:
Up to 30 days = Free
31 60 days = $50 additional fee
61 90 days = $100.00 additional fee

Ammunition left for more than 90 days will be considered abandoned.

CA Sales Tax must be collected on the full invoiced amount of the ammunition shipment
All ammunition shipments received MUST have an original invoice with shipment so the proper sales tax can be collected.

*Ammunition will only be released to the customer listed on the invoice.
*All fees are non-refundable.
*All terms and fees subject to change at the sole discretion of RifleGear.

So, basically add 15% to your price to get OTD. Let's see if the local players wise up and start being competitive. I have an inkling of suspicion that even with the 15% fee/tax, online can sometimes still come out ahead.

The guy said the $10 was all the state fees.

If the order was already charged tax, for instance from Cabela's, would tax be collected again?

Yes I got a reply back and they do charge tax if you haven't been charged tax. State mandate. So $10.00 plus tax would still be a good deal for a good online deal. Like for 10mm nobody has local deals on 10mm if they even have any in stock. One local sporting goods store wanted full msrp of 42.99 for 1 box of low power American eagle. I high tailed it outa there.

Another example of the greedy state screwing residents for sales tax.

Wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what this was all about. This state must have lost a good chunk of revenue from online sales. I know how much I ordered and I am not shooting 1000s of rounds a month.

You know...originally I was upset about all this having to send bulk ammo to a dealer. But trying to make a Lemon Drop Martini out of Lemons....I realized...I've lost packages being delivered to my house, and now ship everything to work.

With the exception of ammo....don't think my Finance company's HR would like a few crates of 7.62x39 showing up in the our mail room. So paying $5 - $10 bucks to have my ammo shipped to somewhere safe and held there till I can pick it up....it's a service I'd pay for.

Oh I know, and people have to go on with their lives and stay out of jail. But this is still depressing.

They have ups hubs for this service, to be forced into it by politics is another. Also any mention about tax?

Anyone know of any FFL offer services like this in the North County San Diego area? $10 is a great deal that could be overcome by cheap online prices especially in hard to come by caliber like 6.8 SPC not offered by LGS. Rifle Gear and Azusa is way too out of the way to make it worthwhile for me.
