Default Utah CCW "alcohol offense" & Fingerprint card question

Three questions:

1.At some point in the early 2000's I received a citation for an open container (had a beer outside of the boundaries of a music venue). Does this qualify as being "convicted of an offense involving the use of alcohol"?

2. Are there codes for race or is that field not required? Just don't think there's any way I can print that small in that tiny box.

3. Can "Employer & address:" be left blank since fingerprinting request is not employer related?

That is left BLANK. It is for the person taking your finger prints (their place of employment). In most cases, it's not filled in.

I understood that question to mean "an offense involving being under the influence of alcohol", such as DUI or public drunkenness - your offense is merely involving where you possessed a bottle of alcohol, unrelated to whether or not your were consuming it. But that's just my take on it.

They *might* mean any offense that involves alcohol in any manner, whether or not it involved consumption. I don't really know. The way it's worded, that could be what they mean.

FWIW, I had a public intoxication arrest back in 2002, but was not charged with anything - I answered "no" to that question, because I was not convicted of anything. I got my UT permit without a problem. What was the outcome of your citation? Was it just an infraction that you paid a fine for and that was the end of it? Did you get the citation reduced to something else?

RE: Race and such codes, here's the fingerprint card instructions from AZ DPS, I imagine since they send the cards to the FBI that this is their standards as well.

Appreciate the response. I received a citation, paid a small fine and that was the end of it so hopefully it not matter.

Best to tell the truth because they will have it on record if so.

I have my UT permit, anything older than 5 years in not a problem. Don't omit anything, in fact I included a short letter explaining what a dunce I was in the 80's and I listed everything I could remember but explained that anything I forgot was unintentional. Your issue will not even be a bump in the road provided you are truthful to the best of your ability.

Utah is very CCW friendly.

I always answer yes on my renewal and then on a separate piece of paper state the PC that i was cited for Minor in passion of an open container. Ive never had any issues with it. Just like anything else best to be honest about it because if it does come to light at some point if you tried to hide it by saying no would just make it worse or get you denied.
