It's all in whatever a bad scenario looks like. If you believe it's TEOTWAWKI for decades, them PM's probably will have little value. If you think it's WROL for some limited time period, the PM's will be one of the few things that maintain their value.

I'm curious: did anyone purchase some BTC based on this thread? It's at $16,900 now. Lots of crazy-town going on with it.

Not based on this thread, but I did buy some cryptos last week.

I'm up 40% overall.

Itís worthless all the time. All this money people are making is no different than making money on stocks. Itís just speculation. Itís gambling. And yes, itís a bubble. It will burst.

The original crypto currency is, and always has been, metal coin. Real metal. Silver and gold coin. Not as an ďinvestmentĒ. And some stupid post about ďgold only went up 20%...Ē means you donít understand money and monetary history.

Silver and gold coin will always have exchange value. They have intrinsic value which determines their exchange value. Itís why tyrants and potentates always confiscate gold and silver, from Diocletian to FDR.

Iíve got a safe full of silver coin. Donít plan to sell it. Plan to use it some day.

I have a bad feeling about this. This will not end well. Hope you got a chair when the music stops playing.

Crypto or even real currency only value of what we assign it. Goods and Services will be the only thing of real value after the SHTF. It was many years ago but there was a leading economist that said he was not buying Cash, or Gold, or even Silver but Shells for SHTF. Yep, Not Cash, Not Gold, Not Silver. But Shotgun Shells.

Best way to prepare. Be able to defend you and your stuff. Live in a good area. Be able to provide a service that will be needed.

Have some real cash and coins is good plus some small bills too.
Try going to a store without cash and get stuff with a CC when systems are down. Cash and Carry at first. Spend it quick.

Do you have food and water for you and your family for 4-6 weeks (or longer). Do you have enough guns and ammo. Medical supplies? Tools? any Skills? Do you have a "Tribe" (friends/ neighbors /family) to count on?

These are the things you should really be thinking about.

What's their intrinsic value?

Their part in industrial processes? That they make good jewelry? That people have faith that there is a limited supply?

I'll give you that they have a much more proven history behind them. But "intrinsic" value I'm not understanding.

A Bitcoin value tracker site: https://www.coindesk.com/price/

I was curious...

I've been saying that for years ...

There is no value at all complaining or analyzing or reading tea leaves to decide what these bills really mean or actually do; any bill with a chance to pass will be bad for gun owners.

The details only count after the Governor signs the bills.

Not a lawyer, just Some Guy On The Interwebs.

I can't buy lumber or a new rake with bitcoin.
I can't buy firewood with bitcoin.
I can't buy beer with bitcoin.
I can't buy cat food with bitcoin.
I can't buy tires with bitcoin.
Nobody is willing to mow weeds, dig ditches, or perform any kind of labor in exchange for bitcoin.

Maybe I'm kind of old fashioned, but in my opinion a currency only has value if I can exchange it for useful goods and services and out of several dozen people I've asked not a single one was willing to accept bitcoin in exchange for anything. Good luck if SHTF.
Yes, you can buy all of that with bitcoin. Anything you can buy with your credit, debit or cash can be bought with bitcoin. All you need is a shift card. I will for sure accept BTC or LTC for any of the tasks you listed.
