Agreed!, looking good plus having fun = good times

Yeah man, the 10 round DM system is looks and functions great. I went with a HS-Precision DM system with their 10 round box for $319.00 from MidwayUSA.com. It's not easy finding them in stock. I had to use the "Notify Me" option.

Just got it and added some stuff

Remington 700 SPS Tactical .308
SWFA Super Sniper 10x42
Burris Xtreme Tactical 2 piece Base
Burris Xtreme Tactical Rings - 30mm Medium height
Harris Ultralight BRM 1A2 bipod
Tactical Works buttstock pouch/riser

Kind of a budget build with parts that are still proven to work awsome. Hopefully the mount and ring set up works ok. I talked to SWFA over the phone when ordering and told them all the details about the gun what I'll be doing with it. And that's what they recommended me. Seems like it's kinda mounted high now that I look at it. I know general rule it to get the scope as low to the barrel as you can without sacrificing being able to see through the scope comfortably..

700SPS Left-handed in .30-06
Nikon Prostaff 4-12x40
Harris BRM 9-13"

I've adjusted the trigger myself, but I'll be getting a Timney Trigger here in a little bit. Also have a bolt handle that I'll be putting on.

Little action shot out in BLM near Borrego Springs.

Here's what I built last year (pics up later - no camera - lol !)
1.Rem. 700 BDL HB in .308 RH short action, old school from the '80's - originally from the factory with wood stock - probably a medium, blued, bull barrel with a light taper - shoot left-handed now
2. Blackhawk Camo Tactical free floating recoil reducing stock (installation was a b***h - don't believe Blackhawk it's a drop-in stock - it is not)
3. Harris Bipod
4. 10-40 x 60 scope (Chinese clone)
5. rear ring - scope mount - has a short Weaver rail for my replica Trujicon 1x or other RDS or lower power scopes
6. Brownell's nylon floor-plate mag-extender - increases internal ammo capacity from 4 to 7 rounds - also required minor fitting.

I've heard really good things about this gun, however I heard they had trigger issues. Watched a whole CNBC expose thing on how the triggers would misfire...

Anyone had this problem?

This thread needs more wood.

CA waiting period elapsed. Absurd for long guns but whatever. I'm pretty excited about this:

.308

Can't wait to get out to the range and see how it performs. After that, slay some hogs.

Spot saved for when I pick my Remington 700 SPS Tactical up on Friday.

Have ordered for it so far

Leupold Mk VI 6.5-20x50 ER/T M5 (in hand already)
Seekins Precision 20 MOA rail
Seekins Precision Medium Rings
Timney 510 trigger
HS Precision PST012 M24 stock (in hand)
Harris 6-9" BRM bipod (in hand)

All of it should arrive by the time my DROS is completed so I'll be able to slap it altogether for the weekend.

You see them, just more people get the .308 for shooting longer ranges. My 1960s model is in .222 Remington. Sort of similar and even more rare today.

Gant,

Talking ballistics for individual rounds is a whole thread in and of itself. If you at least know the velocity, bullet type, and bullet weight you can plug the data in here to get a decent idea: http://www.jbmballistics.com/cgi-bin/jbmtraj-5.1.cgi

As a general rule, you want the bullet to be super sonic (Mach 1.0+) at the distance you want to shoot.

Bought my SPS-V in .308 when I turned 18.

Almost four years of change from a bone-stock 700 to what I have now. This rifle has been my baby and my learning rifle. The actions been worked so many times its like glass.

Heres the transition from 2008 to now:

current state:

and hows it shoot? Pretty damn well:
