Default Quail chukar hunting

So with the decent year of rain and conditions, how has the upland hunting been? Decent sized coveyís, normal or off the charts? I havenít been able to get out and see but looking forward to get a day off and try in December. I did run into some decent sized coveys of grouse in Wyoming, just a little too hard to pick one off with a 257 WBY.

Chukar has been great for me. Iíve got my spot all figured out. Seeing about 20 birds an outing, usually a couple flushes of a covey of eight or so plus singles encountered later after the flush. All this without a dog and without too much climbing.

Iíve wounded birds at 25 yards with #4 at 1375, so it is disheartening to be forced to use steel.

I need to get out for some quail, been taking the last few seasons off with the low bird counts. Sounds like much better numbers this year.

The first weekend in December is looking more promising for me, need to go out and get some sweet tasty morsels.
