Default kahr p380 whats similar in size but reliable?

Looking into getting a small pistol i have a p380 but its not reliable. what other handguns are about as small as the kahr p380 but a better choice for reliability.

Bought my wife an LC9. Its been as reliable as I could ask for thus far. Zero FTF;s with multiple ammo choices ran through it. Its thinner IMO than the Kahr.

Obvious would be a Sig p238. Each pistol has their own. Some swear by the Kahr others have issues. Same with the Sig. Your Kahr should be under warranty. Try calling the Kahr warranty first

I was juggling between the lcp and the bodyguard 380. I ended up with bodyguard for no other reason then it look a bit better then the lcp.

As for reliability, the bodyguard has 1,125 exactly through it. So far 100%…but knocking on wood. Had been feeding it wwb and the last 25 were zmax. I'm happy with my purchase.

i love my kahr p9 but the LCP & the bodygaurd are still good. as others stated kahr has a great customer service. Did you break it in enough? use fresh FMJ rounds before you go HP/HD - I put about 300 through my p9 then 100 of HP and now it runs like a industrial sewing machine even with the reloads

I have an LCP and I love it. Ran Tula like a boss! LOL don't hate, that's the only ammo I've found for the thing since I bought it.

My P380 works great, I'd send it to Kahr if you're having problems.

+1 My P380 needed a good 400-500 round break it to get 100 percent reliable. I would give it anther chance and send it back to Kahr if your having issues.

What type of malfunctions are you having?

the problem with my kahr is ill have one in the chamber and the mag full. I will shoot off the round in the chamber and the slide will stay in the open position after that first shot and other times it will function like normal. I just know that would not be good if i really needed it to work.

I bought a p380 here on Calguns a little over a year ago. It had roughly 200 rounds through it at that time. I had to run another 200 rounds through it before It would cycle every time. I found this gun to be very picky as far as ammo goes, especially if using hollow points. Sometimes they would hang up and not chamber if the bullet was not curved enough at the tip.
I never had the issue you seem to be having but I like this little gun for CCW and carry it daily and feel it is a very reliable gun afteer broke in properly.

Not sure who you talked to at Kahr, but just call and get a Return Authorization number as outlined below. Yes you have to pay the shipping which sucks. Here is the procedure as outlined on their website:

http://www.kahr.com/faq.asp

Q. What is the procedure for returning my firearm for service or repair?

Kahr pistols returned to the factory for service or repair should be sent to:

K.A.I.
130 Goddard Memorial Drive
Worcester, MA 01603
Attn: Service Dept.

Confirm the firearm is unloaded before shipping.

Contact Kahr Arms Technical Support Department to receive a Return Authorization number before shipping a firearm to the factory. You can do this by online (RA request form) or by calling 508-795-3919. Ship handguns prepaid via UPS or Fed Ex overnight. Federal law prohibits anyone without a Federal Firearms License from shipping a handgun by mail. Please check for any additional state or local regulations. With your return, enclose a letter that references your Return Authorization number and includes: name; address; phone number; and firearm model and serial number. The letter should describe, in detail, the problem being experienced or work to be done.

Send the P380 back to Kahr, they will make it right. If you still want to try something else, I went from an off roster P380 to a Ruger LCP and never looked back.

VERY POOR KAHR CUSTOMER SERVICE!
I own a bought new a .380 Sig Sauer P238 that had feeding and ejecting failures and in contacting Sig, a free two day air shipping label was e-mailed to me the next day-factory fixed and fifty positive fired in three days-two day air back to me, so far so good. From what you have posted and Kahr's current warranty policy, I will never buy from them. Shoddy business practices to say the least. Raise some hell on the phone and don't let them get away with this! Keep us posted.

Diesel, sounds like your slide hold open is hanging up on top of a case. With the slide open and a full mag inserted look into the breach to see if there is enough space between the slide open and the top bullet case...

Ruger LCP or Bodyguard 380 is your best bet. Ruger is proven to be very reliable and the bodyguard has a lifetime warranty.

My cousin bought a P380 and it was nothing but problems. FTF and many stove pipes. He contacted Kahr and they recently did a full rebuild on the gun with all the new 2013 updated parts. Basically only the frame wasn't replaced.

I bought the P380 from him as he decided to pick up a LCP. Im bringing the Kahr to the range this weekend to test it out after the full factory rebuild. Keeping my fingers crossed. The gun looks great lets just hope Kahr worked their magic on it.

Colt Government Model .380, this may not be the most available due to off roster but I think well worth the trouble to locate. I am on my 2nd one due to selling my 1st one (foolish I know) anyhow these pistols are flat and easy for the pocket or any other carry for the CCW folks. As far as reliability never had an issue with my 1st with over a thousand rounds of all types over the years. My favorite testing was to fill the mag with all different mfg. rounds then shoot as normal, never a problem. My 2nd is the Pocket Lite and lives up to the rep of the all steel model I had 1st. Suffice to say this one will not leave my possession unless I get an all steel one in trade, the all steel is just my own pet peeve not a negative at all. I also like the simple operating function of these as they are just like any full size 1911, easy to relate in fast handling. Good luck on your quest !
