Default Nor-Cal C&R shoot @ Oroville June 1st!

It's about time we had another shoot!

Where: The Oroville public shooting range. It is free and unmanaged (location here: https://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-...d=0CJIBEPwSMAM )

When: Saturday, June 1st from 6:00-7:00AM to whenever we all leave. (Try to get there really early, the range fills up quickly!)

What: Primarely C&R's, but bring whatever you want! We all love seeing guns at the range, especially the weird and unusual.

Who: Anybody who wants to come! Bring your friends and yourself!

Since this is a FREE, and NON-MANAGED shooting range, we have to bring some things that we might take for granted most places.

1. SHADE, anything that can provide shade will be appreciated. It will be June, so expect some heat and sunburns.

2. TABLES, for shooting from and to put the guns on. They have some concrete tables, but they get filled up pretty quick.

3. COOLERS/ICE CHESTS, to keep your food (if you bring some) and drinks cold through the heat.

4. WATER, the Oroville range doesn't have any as far as I know. Don't forget to buy a couple of flats of water or fill a water cooler and bring cups!

5. CHAIRS, these are pretty important but the world won't end if we don't have them, but try to have them if possible. It makes shooting INFINITELY more comfortable.

6. TARGETS. They do not provide targets there besides what people left behind, so I suggest that you bring your own paper targets and cardboard stands, or other "reactive" targets, AKA, watermelons, old milk jugs filled with water, you get it. And sometimes like magic tannerite appears. The tannerite gods like this shoot apparently...

7. FOOD. Bring your own! Unless you can go 6 hours without food...

I can't wait to see you all there! If you wanna come just comment below or PM me and I'll add you to the list! And if you want add what you'll be bringing below, we love to talk about it before we see it

1. Lone Gunman
2. golddredger +4
3. Dutch3
4. Divernhunter

I will do my best to go, and to bring my Dad. I think I might give him the Garand I recently got from the CMP for him on Sunday. It will be a good way to get him out to shoot it. He doesn't go shooting much anymore.

Count me in. I can bring a shade canopy and maybe a couple of chairs.

Just my boring Mausers and some black powder guns.

Any camping facilities nearby? Wouldn't mind bringing out the motor home and joining in the fun if possible!

There is also a campground right on the Feather river near Surplus City-

http://www.rvparkresorts.com/

And a KOA at the Feather Falls Casino a few miles away.

Last time I was there, I was told "Paper and Cardboard Targets Only!" by a DFG warden. I think they have been trying to keep people from trashing so much of the place (the days of shooting partial kitchen appliances and water heaters must be over ) But I always encourage the use of biodegradeable targets anyhow

Dunno if I can make it, but I will certainly get the word out for others in the area!

Too bad I live in SoCal. That area has some fond memories for me specially dove hunting the groves near the afterbay.

I don't know if I'm gonna make this one. One of my friends is moving that day, I'll most likely be helping him out.

I can bring old fire extinguishers. They spray powder out when hit in a white cloud. Not toxic to the enviro and fun to hit at 200 yards. Really test your iron sight shots. Then we just pick them up when done and recycle as scrap.

This will be one bad A@@ C&R shoot. I been wanting to do one in Oroville for some time just not have put the effort in. So this gets things rolling.

Lets make it a swap meet and trade as well. Got some C&R to sell or trade bring them along. You never know!

depending on how much i get done with moving i might be in, moving to a new place the day before and not sure how the GF will be feeling about me taking off all day to go shooting.

never had a problem with any dfg patrolman telling me what not to shoot at (2 liters, milk jugs, cardboard, paper, mayo jars, oh, and the occasional stop sign that i find' down range...)

Count me in!
I'll be bringing a table, chairs, water cooler with ice (won't forget the ice this time) and a few guns... not many.

Hopefully I'll be able to get some more .22lr.

Would anyone else be interested in hand-thrown clays? I'll be bringing my 870, some clays and a and thrower.

I am definitely interested in some thrown clays, I'll bring some too. I bought a thrower and a box of clays a while back, but have not gotten to try them out yet. I'm sure I will do horrible

What are we going to do for the bathroom? Number 2 specifically, but also in case people bring some lady friends? Maybe we should have a tarp/pipe fixture as cover, and then a pit?

There is bathroom facility at the range. Now would I sit my arse in there???? NO WAY! With that said town is not to far away so you could burn into town and use some restrooms somewhere. Lady friends.. Sure I will have wife and daughter along myself.

Ill be there. One more thing, very important for you out-of-towners.

It will be hotter than yer bum on a toilet in hell likely as not. BRING WATER. SHADE. You guns will be hot enough pretty fast to act as branding irons. You will be sweating, profusely in the shade.

For the longer range stuff expect lots of heat-waves, makes irons more of a challenge.

Adding sun block to the list of things needing to be brought. You'll fry like an egg in a pan otherwise.

I still remember last summer, the VZ24 burning hot wood searing my skin. The sweat in the eyes.

You guys should not make it so inviting to show up.

Trap55--- I was going to show up to keep an eye on you. Maybe we can caravan up there? You still have my Phone # in case I get banned again? Found out YOU get in trouble when other newbies do not follow the rules and they just keep doing so. So now I just will defer to the Mods each time.

I think I will have to load up some more 50bmg ammo and clean the rifles. Maybe I will bring some photos of my Africa hunt.

It's not that bad. Typical campground pit toilet facility. Better than a port-a-jon.

But yes, it is only 3-4 miles to civilization (or what passes as such in these parts).

Love to see those pics, bring em, we can caravan, two lost people is better than one. And get that .50 BMG ammo loaded up.....but don't bring anything for sale this time, the tax man cleaned me out. I'm gonna have to go back to work now.

Good to hear. I have a BP revolver and .50 caliber caplock rifle, I don't shoot them often enough. I can bring them for some "click-BWOOM!" time.

I am not sure I have anything for sale. Might have a few items.
I am looking for a Ruger(tang safety), Savage or Rem in a mag chambering(7mmRem mag/300Win mag or 338Win mag) that is shot out bad etc. Plan to rechamber and put a syn stock on it now that my other rifle has been claimed by family.

Give me a call and we can plan things out.
Might need to bring the travel trailer??

Got one of those Rugers in .220 Swift heavy barrel sitting here for sale, no bolt and I can't find one! Magnum face and short action bolts turn up once in a while, but that don't help me. I'll give you call soon.
