Default CZ 75 SP-01 or CZ 75B SA

I know this is not a CZ forum, what I had in mind to purchase a CZ 75 SP-01 or CZ 75B Single Action. I am using it for target and plunking at time. Is the CZ 75 SA much more accurate than the CZ75 SP-01 or are they about the same. Anyone in this forum had them both and what is your opinion with them. Anyone knows what the fair price for a CZ 75B SA. Thanks in advance for your reply.

The SP-01 has a rail, so if you want it for home defense in a dark situation that would be the one to get. Otherwise the CZ75 should be about the same.

If you're just going to use it out at the range on static paper targets, I'd go with the 75sa. They're the same mechanical accuracy, but the lighter SA trigger will help you reach that accuracy.

I have a the SP-01 and it's very accurate. I can't comment on the SA since I don't have one.

I got my SP-01 for $550 plus tax and DROS and it came stock with night sights. You should be able to get a CZ 75B SA in the $550 ballpark if not lower.

Alright, here is my opinion. I have owned both.

Accuracy potential between the two is insignificant. My SA shoots like as laser, as did the SP-01 which I traded away earlier this year. My SP-01 came from the factory with a test target of 2 3/8" group at 25 meters - pretty good for a function-check target.

Personally, I'd suggest getting the SP-01. Here is why:
The SA trigger pull on the SP-01 should be similar in weight and feel to the 75bSA pull. The SP-01 gives the option of a DA pull if needed/warranted/desired.

The CZ pistols can all be carried cocked-and-locked, which can essentially turn your SP-01 into an SA with a Rail.

The SP-01 frame was revised to reduce the trigger reach length.

Both frames have the beavertail which I find beneficial on the CZ pistols.

The SP-01 frame, with the rail, significantly reduces the felt recoil. A lot. This is one of the reasons the SP-01 is finding so much favor in the competition world these days.

The SP-01 can fill a defensive role more easilt with the ability to attach a light/laser.

Basically, there is little that a 75bSA offers over the SP-01. The SP-01 is a great pistol. Period.

BTW, all the above pertains to the SP-01 with the safety - don't get the SP-01 "tactical" that has the decocker.

Why would you recommend not getting the SP-01 Tactical? Just wondering because I was thinking about adding one my CZ collection.

If you have CZs already, then that's another thing. I'm simply not a fan of CZs decockers, espcially when the standard DA/SA pistol is very safe even to manually decock.

The Decocker then, IMHO, adds little to the pistol but takes away one of the beautiful features of the DA/SA CZ pistols, the ability to carry them cocked and locked.

With the SP-01 Tactical, you can start with it half-cocked in USPSA. But I know I prefer to have a gun with a manual safety.

I purchased a CZ75B with a manual safety after much debate about getting the decocker version. Even though I owned 1911's and Glocks, Sigs were my biggest influence.

Having the CZ 75B in my possession, I'm not sure I'd buy any of their pistols with a decocker. They are very simple to manually decock and can be decocked either to a position with the hammer at full rest, or, where the decocking lever would place it.

The option of C&L, is an additional bonus for those who may need or wish to do so.

Default CZ 75 SP-01 or CZ 75B SA

Thanks for the opinion Overkill and from the rest of the member. I had handled the CZ 75B SA, it is light on the front and the point ability is very good. The Single action is fairly light, but not sure is lighter than the CZ75 SP01. I need to handle a CZ 75 SP-01 and see that weighted front might help me to stay on target with my double tapping recovering times. Know who have CZ75 SP-01 in stock? Anyone?

Is that a trick question?

I'd get the decocker but that's because I'm a Sig guy and don't like safeties.

Dublin Guns and Knives has both the SP-01 and SP-01 Tactical as well as the CZ-SA and the bayonet system for the SP-01

I'm assuming you're a fan of the cocked & locked feature as well.

The thing about the decocker feature is like a Sig. Most people like Sigs. In my opinion, it would serve a better purpose for HD, instead of manually decocking it (lowering the hammer with thumb on it, while pulling the trigger). Isn't that more unsafe? And you won't have time or reflex to do it properly in HD situation. Cops may like cocked & locked, or it would be fine at the shooting range.

But for HD, I feel... after you rack the slide, you should decock it right away (as a second nature), as you walk through the house. That way you won't accidently pull the trigger (in haste/fear/confusion). The DA will allow for better judgement (like Revolvers). After the first shot, its SA anyway. Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable with the cocked & locked. What would you do, if you needed to shoot at someone in a hurry - Unlock it first? You probably would forget to unlock. And if you're walking around with a cocked (unlocked) gun, a little trip on the stair case will fire it. Either way - not an easy feature for HD (for average people).....

...........All IMHO...

I agree. Plz read my ^ above mentioned reasons. Decocker IS a Safety. But a safety lock would add more steps before you can fire.

1. Rack the slide after loading a magazine into it.
2. Put the safety ON.
3. Then "try" to remember to take the safety Off, when you really need to fire. If you forget in confusion, and pull the trigger (by nature) nothing happens.
OR
Walk around the house with safety OFF, a loaded gun, hammer pulled back.. in SA mode = all Dangerous.

Default I've got both . . .

I have an SP01, SA and a Tactical Sports. For pure paper punching with light loads get the CZ-75SA. For carry or dual duty a person familiar with 1911's should get the CZ-75SA and carry it like a 1911, cocked and ready to rock. If you like DA first shot or if you are going to play USPSA or other run and gun type events, get the CZ-75 SP01. It's a dead reliable (full size) carry weapon. I'd take it over any other full size 9mm for winter carry. If you are serious about USPSA get a CZ-75 Tactical Sports, it ready to go out of the box, though size may be an issue if you have little girly hands.

Round count - same in CA unless you already own some old mags from before 2000. Then its 16SA vs 19SP01
The CZ-75SA is significantly lighter, but no rail.
Both have a nice beaver tail on them.
Ergonomics (safety, slide release, tear down) on both are the same.
Stay away from the Tactical SP01 and get a plain SP01 to avoid the decocker nonsense.
CZ-75s are very good guns. The only people I know that don't like them have never fired one or are the type of person that need a $2500 custom bling something or other to be happy.

I have put many rounds through CZ75's over the last several years of USPSA/IPSC and steel plate matches. It is my my favorite platform.
Out of all the varients available, I prefer the SA in 9mm, I will even convert it too DA/SA for USPSA production division, just for the beavertail and mag release.
The SP-01 has too much weight up front which slows the shot-to-shot speed.
I have made full length guiderods out of stainless and tungsten to play around with front end weight, and for 9mm I prefer a no-rail CZ with plastic guiderod. The SP-01 is too nose heavy for me, but this is very much a subjective thing. In .40 the SP frame and/or a tungsten guiderod are great.

The ergonomics of both are identical except for the trigger itself, and the half-assed "serrations" on the frontstrap and front of slide on the SP.

I would have to disagree with this as this shouldn't even be an issue if your finger is off the trigger until you are ready to fire. The finger should be ready to pull the trigger as its resting on the frame or maybe even the trigger guard. Thus, it should not be dangerous to walk around (well if there is a criminal in your house it is dangerous!) the house in cocked, SA mode. Additionally, even with my limited handgun training, I've found it to be automatic to knock off the safety and put my finger in a safe position. Even in the few timed "combat" drills I've done this has never been a problem.

Sweet, I just bought a CZ-75 SP-01 from Budsgunshop.com for $560.14 plus $65 for dealer transfer fees and DROS. I couldn't find any local dealers that carried them or would even see if they would carry them.

mysak,
I did hold one today when I was looking at CZs. It felt amazing, the grip was better than on SP-01. It felt pretty light and slick. It is currently out of price range, but its definitely a number 1 pistol on the "next list"

SP01, I really dislike the lack of a beavertail on the B model.

I would love a sp-01

My Cz p-01 was shooting very well today at the range, tight groups at 25 yards.

I love the decocker, I don't need a safety.

I have owned the Standard 75b, 75 SA, and a SP01 (sold the 75b)....If I had to rank them it would be - 1. SP01, 2. 75 SA , 3. 75b.

With the extra weight on the SP01, it is much easier for me to do follow up shots and keep on target. Ergos are excellent...extended beavertail enables a high grip which I like. I also prefer the stock Tru-glo sights on the SP01, the green surronded by the white outer ring helps my eyes focus on the front sight easier (just my preference here). Downside of the SP01, is that its heavy

The 75 SA is a very close second, and to be honest depending on my mood could be ranked over the SP01...the 75 SA has very similar ergos to the SP01. Besides being SA only the big difference is it being lighter up front. The trigger can also be tuned to make this thing a tack driver.

The 75b ranks last for me, but still should be respected. Its the model that started it all, but since its introduction there has been small updates to make this pistol even better which are reflected in the newer lines specifically in the ergos. Like Zfield, I really prefer the extended beavertail which the SP01 and 75 SA both have..

c'mon the upswept beavertail,UPSWEPT dammit lol. It's not the flat wimpy beavertail like on my p01. Haha

But OP- if you are using it for matches as well as plinking, I'd suggest a sp01 for the dustcover tguard the rails from...dust and grime and any of that stuff. Less stuff to get in/on there.
I have a p01 and a SA. Accuracy isn't a factor between the two, I mean there essential the same gun with a lil modernization on the sp01

And if you don't like your sp01- sell it to me!!! I've been looking everywhere for one

I have an SP01 and a 75SA. I prefer the SA stock for stock. Don't shoot in DA and I prefer the SA frame for balance.

If you're not really going to shoot DA, then the choice is clear. My fav gun to shoot ? The 75 SA Shadow with the CZ Custom Flat trigger. loooooove it to death.
