I was sure this question had been asked already but could not find it.
I recently picked up this "ghost" SKS from an out of state seller. I have a C&R and COE so now need to register it with our CA overlords. The BOF 961 form has a "Make" (manufacturer) box. What do I enter? Norinco? It's a 5 digit SN (184xx). The receiver, stock, trigger guard, and magazine cover match. Bolt and bolt carrier match each other but not the receiver. The dust cover is also 5 digit but non-matching. This was a bit of an impulse buy but fairly priced and, in true SKS fashion, it eats anything and keeps on going. ![]() The cleaning rod must not be original since it does not fit. ![]() |

Your bound book would use the importer as the manufacturer correct?
Should be the same with the 961 form.

For guns like this I use the country of manufacture. I would register that with CHINA as the make. When I dros'd my Norwegian M1914, we just used Norway. Finland for my Finn rifles regardless of Sako, Tikka etc.
I started doing that after I wrote Sestroryetsk (M91 Mosin) as the make and got "Russia" on the confirmation letter ![]()

![]() It has a poor dot matrix import stamp near the muzzle. Looks like IO. I'll try CHINA and see what happens. Thanks for the info fellas. |
