My friends were right about firearms becoming a necessary "addiction." Due to the shrinking roster of approved handguns, I will be getting one handgun per month before year end.

Thanks to everyone again for their contributions in upholding our constitutional rights!
because a handgun's expiration date on the roster is on 01/01 2016 does not mean that it's place on the roster will not be renewed. although most handguns on the roster will most likely be renewed, history dictates that there will be ones that will not.

welcome to the forum.

Hey everyone, new to the forum but not that new to guns.

Born and raised around my family and friends who were gun owners and always enjoyed going out shooting.

My mother since before i was born purchased a S&W model 59 and has had it ever since. When she first let me shoot it i was hooked. Took me awhile to pull the trigger on purchasing a firearm considering im also a car guy i have plenty of projects and not enough money.

Any ways after awhile of looking i decided i wanted to build my first AR so i know the gun inside and out.

Since this photo i've changed the grip on the quad rail.

Nothing fancy considering i was on a budget. But all in all i've owned this rifle since 2013 and love it. Not one single jam or failure to fire. I know i know... why do you have offset sights if your not running a scope ? well two reasons. One is i plan to get a scope soon, and two is i actually sort of like firing my rifle with a slight tilt. It feels natural to me more so than actually firing with my red dot. Weird i know.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site, I own multiple firearms; it's nice to know so many people in CA are as enthusiastic as I am about firearms, even though the gun laws suck in this state.

Welcome John, most things firearm related are in question in Ca, suggest posting your inquiries on topics in gun related threads, or check flow chart.

Default New to CalGuns

Hello Everyone!

Very interesting forum, this forum made me so much more educated on my firearms and the interesting details on them, so I decided to join.

I hope to learn alot more from all of you.

a quick question, would you say a carbon fiber upper is the new "in" or sticking with traditional uppers better.

I understand the reliability part on the non carbon fiber parts but I have been hearing so many good things about how light they are and how durable they are. I also shot one and cant seem to notice the difference, even if there is at all?

thank you to whoever takes there time to help me with this.

Hello!

I lurked on these forums in the past and finally decided to register. I've always been interested in firearms and just recently took the plunge. I took the NRA basic pistol course, got my FSC and now currently in the process of purchasing a XD.

This is my first post, but have been lurking since close to the beginning.

I use to be a regular at OC Show, Glendale and Ontario and supported CalGuns. I have no reason to go anymore and it makes my feet hurt :P

I have worked the shows in Central and Southern California years ago when my daddy was an active dealer. I have met CalGun volunteers/staff/members at the shows. I don't remember names.

What has spurred me to register is the recent garbage ordinances being put or already in play here in Los Angeles

Right now I'm just trying to figure how I want to participate helping with 2a issues.

My first post here, hi everyone.

I decided to join after I found a lot of useful information here before I made my first pistol purchase for a home defense pistol, a P226 9mm that I will pick up in a few days. I have a good feeling that this will turn into a hobby for me really fast and the small safe I purchased will need an upgrade.

Looking forward to learning a lot here and sharing any information I can to help others in the future.

Hey everyone!

Been snooping around here and finally decided to join up. A little about me, I'm a veteran from San Diego, still new to the gun scene and hoping to become active in the community! I have a glock22 and a remington 700 but haven't done much to it. Anyways, its nice to be here. wadup

Greetings from Pennsylvania. Last night I found myself on one of your "Best Threads" from back in 2010 regarding a poster's First Amendment Rights on the site. The replies were so entertaining, I had to sign up.
I love Cal wine and countryside, but not the laws. I do empathize with you. I'm glad I live in PA, where I don't run across to many restrictive gun laws, (or earthquakes, mudslides, or forest fires).

I'm in west PA, but I investigated auto accidents in Philly. You couldn't pay me to drive around there. They keep stats. If 20 people in west Pa are hurt for every one hundred accidents, the number in Philly is 90. I don't remember the exact numbers, but you get the idea. No problem, though, since I won't be visiting any time soon. Surprised the Pope was not in a crash.

Welcome Yusuke.

Start saving up!

If you are unsure of what handgun you want when the time comes, start a thread here in General Gun Discussions and tell us basically what you are looking for and why.
You will get plenty of opinions to think about.

One thing you will certainly hear is that you should rent several if you are unsure.

Good luck.

Welcome gf88.

I'd be a bit embarrassed to wear that shirt since they can't spell.
Or do they make it sleeveless?

Edit below:
I see the fine print the second time around.
The shirts are apparently not printed yet so there is time to fix if you know these folks.

If this is your business effort, you will want to join the Commercial Sales Forum here.

Keep the faith brother! We'll motivate eachother.

^^^I remember when this guy was "new". He quickly laced up his boots and went to work and had a positive impact on his local community and this large online one too. I know this to be fact personally.

Segue (had to look this up to <) into a main reason for my humble welcome. Who knows who of these new members is the next Dirte, fighterpilot562, mrlonewolf, pennysdad, wildhawker (the list could go on of our champions)?

Hell, you all should realize the owner of this forum was just a "new member" at one time! Kestryl didn't originally own the place. Somebody lurking could one day inherit the whole dang shabang!

Greetings all. New to Calguns of course, but also new to acquiring my own guns. Currently have an old family Winchester lever action from the 50's (still digging out the details using the serial number), and am now in the process of acquiring a pretty straightforward Springfield Armory XD 9mm to start getting proficient in hand guns.
Heading to FrontSight next month for the first time, looking forward to the 4 day DHG class. After that who knows...

Cheers.
