So I went in today to finish my lower.........and all I can say is WOW! These guys are 100% percent professionals. Well staffed and well organized. Like any good business should be. When you show up for your appointment, they are ready to start your lower. I had no wait time. They were at the ready to answer questions, or offer assistance. They were able to help machine, engrave and bead blast my lower in under an hour. They have anodizing available I just didn't have time today. I will definitely be back to complete my next projects. Good job guys.

I would also like to hear everyones feedback on how fitting their FCGs went after attending one of ASTs build parties, as I'm sure others would, so please chime in. Positive and negative, please chime in. So far, lot's of positive feedback. (The magwell issues are not at all related to AST, that blame is on whoever produced your 80%, like Rohg)
However, I would be weary of their engraving. I sent a friend there and they didn't line it up correctly and cut into the magwell flare. They also only did one side. He's new to it all and I feel like they took advantage of him in that regard when I told him that they would take care of him. I'm not trying to be a dick about it, I just want people to be aware of what they are getting and maybe he was the only guy who got screwed in that regard. Or is it $30 a side for the engraving???? If so, they also did it on the non-traditional side. I believe they are limited to a CNC machine for engraving, which explains it to a degree, so find someone with a laser cutter. Either way, get the engraving first, then anodize your lower. I see people asking why not to get an 80% that is already anodized. If you get it like that and plan to have engraving done, it'll look like crap as the edges will not be clean and the image or wording will look blurry. I have heard their anodizing is spot on and feedback on here attests to that.

I got two lowers engraved by AS&T and they came out just ok. This was still early in their process so I'm not sure how they look now. The text depths were not even going left to right. I went from deep to shallow. I guess they could have taken the time to level things but seemed to try to get things done as fast as they can since it was super busy the day I went. For the price and location, I can't really complain. I'll chalk it up as growing pains for them.

80% completed at Arms Specialty and Tool today -AWESOME
I had my first two 80%ers completed at AST today and it was a fantastic experience. Very educational. Gabe walked me through the whole process and I learned a lot......
Like my next two 80%ers will be purchased from him and not Rohg. He showed me where the Rohg was drilled crooked and then rectified the problems I will not hesitate to recommend AST to anyone looking to complete their 80% AR lower and look forward to doing business with them again. Thanks Gabe and thanks Calguns! |

Gabe was busier than a 1 armed paper hanger today! the entire experience was top notch and he made this novice feel confident. only thing i will suggest is that if your lower is already anodized, be sure to place a piece of paper where ever there is contact. when we got to step 2, we added a pieces of paper on the front but the back didn't have any so there are a little bit of scuff marks. it took me over an hour to drive there, but his cnc machine and personality is worth the drive!

I just got to work after visiting AS&T. I was raised with firearms, but, as this is my first AR build, I did not know what to expect in the whole process. My visit to AS&T was the best. I highly recommend this shop. Everyone there was extremely helpful and very patient with my beginner builder status. I just can't say enough about my experience there today. I will definitely be returning to have more work done.

Flawless at Arms Specialty and Tools
Just got back from AS&T. Read so many good things about Gabe and the folks there it seemed like the right place to go. After listening to Gabe explain the process to an other builder and watching it being done, my nerves settled and I was up. Before I knew it the job was done and looked perfect. Got it home and assembled the parts (complete with Ca. legal bullet button of course). Everything fit perfectly and the operations are flawless. Thanks a bunch for all the info and guidance Gabe !!

Getting mine done next week. Looking forward to it. For engraving, I am considering a new place in Santa Ana. Here's the link rather than have me type out all the good stuff. http://www.factoryenova.com/sp/index.php
I'll try them out on some junk stuff before I bring my pretty AR lower in for Logo'ing.

Had a horrible experience with Ares before hearing about Gabe and Arms Specialty and Tool. All I can say is Gabe is a stand up guy with a professional attitude and a way of doing business that some others out there could learn from.
If you have a lower that needs work, bring it to this shop and you will be more than happy with the result. |

I have to say though, don't pay for an anodized 80% because there's a good chance you'll need to have it stripped and anodized again after the machining process...
