An ATF letter is meaningless to California law.

ATF says that the trigger adapters that add a little crank to the 10/22 are legal. California considers them "Multiburst Trigger Actuators" and will charge you with possession of a machine gun.

We are talking about a FELONY AW possession charge here. 3, 5, or 7 years in prison and loss of your gun rights in all 50 states.
I'm not willing to be the test case. Best of luck if you are.

Left to right, Featureless Arms "Liberal", Sparrow Dynamics CRG-15 (FDE version), Resurgent Arms Featureless Grip (prototype version)

I will be doing a full review of the Sparrow Dynamics grip (pictured center) in the next day or two.

Which one of these do you prefer so far? The one on the far right looks best.

Actually for me the 2 on the left (Featureless Arms and Sparrow Dynamics) are my current favorites. Just more comfortable in my hand.

Sure the price is right, but you can't do this with a fin grip:

OK, thanks. I'll probably try them by availability. I think the Sparrow is available now. I'll check on the availability of the Featureless Arms and maybe try one of those also.

OK all three of these companies were kind enough to send me grips to review, so I feel I need to remain fair and reasonably impartial. The truth is, all three of these grips are very similar, and all three of them are excellent choices. Do I have a favorite? Sure, but it's very close. And I have no doubt that a different person, with different hand size and shape, would pick a different favorite.

MudCamper,
I appreciate your impartiality and presenting them all as excellent choices. You are spot on about preferences and hand sizes. Featureless grips kind of became a “project” for you, and I’m thankful you took it on to show the Calguns community there are other good options besides registration.

Necessity is the mother of invention (and improvement), and we have plenty of necessities here in California! I highly respect the companies who paved the way for featureless even when featureless wasn’t that popular, and I’m grateful new companies are jumping in too. I believe California has the greatest number of good manufacturers who are fighting for our 2A rights and I want that to continue. The anti-gunners can legislate, but we will still be here on the front lines fighting back.

I really appreciate all the companies that are working hard to help us keep are firearms in this state. Thank you! Just got my CRG-15 today. I like it. Going out Monday to give it a go.

Just put the sparrow grip on and ditched the bullet button. Feels great. Waiting for a brake to finish it off.
The Sparrow is the best option, IMO. The others posted are similar, but this feels like a fully fleshed out product.

Wow! It's amazing how fast companies are innovating compliance parts. Who says American manufacturing is dead?

This is a really nice evolution of this style of featureless grip--improved grip textures and coatings. It looks a little bit on the wide side, but I've been wanting something with finger grooves for a while now. Looks like I'm buying yet ANOTHER featureless grip to add to try out!

Is it just me but does the Leviathan have way less space for your thumb to wrap around than the Sparrow when used with an MOE Fixed stock?

The MOE fixed stock is not the best stock for any of these grips because it extends to the bottom of the end plate

No I figured out the problem. The MOE Fixed carbine stock comes with two attachments that go next to the castle nut. Try the other attachment if you have it. Should provide more space for the thumb.

Or if you send me a sample I'll gladly try it out and post picture.

I used the cut out attachment on my fixed stocks. I then drilled a small hole in the buffer tube and set the stock back 1.4". With the extended PRS rubber butt pad it now is the same length as an extended adjustable with plenty of room for the thumb to wrap around.

Oh got it, the small spacer doesn’t give too much room in the rear

They’re available on our website

This is what you need to do. Just using that cut out attachment and pushing it all the way to the castle nut is not enough.

What about that? Looks like plenty of space for the thumb without pushing it back.

Nice photo!
Yes, you can do that and most people can fit their thumb in there, but the space is tight. I have average size hands, and my thumb knuckle (metacarpal phalangeal joint or MCP) uncomfortably hits the stock, unless I use a very relaxed hold on the grip. It is much better if you push that stock back a bit and modify the buffer to keep it there.

I've used the sparrow and liberal grip. Both are good but I prefer the liberal grip. The angle feels more natural for me, and my thumb hits the castle nut and buffer tube less.

The Leviathan grip takes that into consideration by extending the portion under the receiver a little farther back so that the thumb doesn’t hit the endplate or castle nut.

I have used the Liberal, the hammer head, sparrow dynamics, and the resurgent arms. The Resurgent Arms and Sparrow Dynamics suit me the best so far. With Resurgent Arms being MIA, I don't consider them an option any more. Will have to give the Leviathan a try in the near future.

Love all the choices. One of these is bound to work for your hand.

Biggest bummer is that Resurgent Arms extended safety appears to be something that would work nicely with them all, but we may never know. Hopefully someone tools up something similar.

I like the MFT grip with replaceable rear grip panels. Just cut a slot, insert your own panel cut from a piece of ABS, then glue in place. When I’m out of state I can use the normal grip like this:

And the rest of the time it works like this:

I thought about getting a couple Gen II's since they are a little cheaper. I decided on the Gen 3's because you can adjust the length of pull by adding more spacers. I like the beefier stock, too.
