1911 gunsmith in LA area?
I'm looking for a smith who can do some front strap checkering on a Kimber Stainless II 1911 frame, preferably somebody who isn't backed up and will take more than a month to either do the work, or to even take on the job. No refinishing needed, no extra work, just a 30 LPI checking job to the front strap.
I checked with Alan Tanaka, Will O'Hare, Dave's Metal Works, and Jim Hoag, but they were either too far out of my way or were way to busy to do the work anytime soon. Any other suggestions on a good 1911 smith around the Los Angeles (closer to SGV is preferred but not required), or even in North OC area, that can do some front strap checkering? |

All good 1911 gunsmiths are backed up.
If they are NOT backed up, that's probably a hint as to their quality of work... Have you ever thought about getting a checkering fixture and a checkering file and doing it yourself?
