Yeah, but only list 2018 classes.

Those of us with permits expiring in early January are in a tight spot if we wait for the letters to be mailed in October. I got into the last class of 2017... next class wasn't until a few days before my expiration.
As it was, I called in August and Sarah booked me into the November 14 class.
Had I waited until after getting the renewal letter, it would have been within 60 days of class.

It's going to get nasty with range time being needed for renewals next year.
For those that expire early in the year I would check the CCW site and refer to the current years info. At least you can get your class dates done.
There is no mention of range time for renewals. I have confirmed that with Sarah.

Maybe they are having phone issues. Give it a try later.
Are you calling 909-387-3750?

I'm scheduled for March 12th in Rancho. I had to wait on hold for about 6 minutes but it didn't hurt too much.

Sorry, completely missed that. But the dates I gave for March came off of my renewal letter, so they should be good.

It's all good. I got my letter last night and got my class date as the 12th of March. I'm glad you posted that date because it should work out great for me. Or, at least i hope it does

Old Marine, I made my appointment yesterday for 1/8/19 at 3rd street. She told me on the phone to bring my paperwork in before that and at that time to let them know I had a weapon modification and they'd set me up with a qualification appointment.

I plan on bringing my paperwork in the end of November... My permit expires 2/15/19.

Fill out the renewal paperwork with your modified roster. At class they will then give you information / date to go to the range for qualification.

In my case, this as all handled when I turned in the paperwork.
I did range a week before class.

Made my appointment this morning for May 14th at the Rancho Cucamonga Council Chambers. I talked to her about the new re-qualification requirement on our handguns and she didn't have any information to offer. Sooooo, we wait.

They will provide the info needed when you turn in your paperwork. NOT at the renewal class.

I just went to the renewal class today. Deputy was very funny, cracking jokes (especially about firefighters). He skimmed through all the stuff you should already know pretty quick. He showed a couple scenarios then Sheriff McMahon came in and talked to the class. He spent about 30-45 minutes thanking us, showing support and asking questions.

He was asked about any changes to training requirements and he deferred back to the Deputy who said renewals are not changing as of right now. Overall it was a great class and very funny which you would never expect. Big thanks to SBSD for making the renewal process a breeze.

My next renewal isn't until 2020, but does anyone know if they require you to have a real ID? Not going to go through the hassle if it's not needed.

If your CDL is current then you should be good.
The Real ID isn't really as big a hassle as some make it.

Not a fan of sitting at the DMV, my current license will expire before the LTC renewal and I plan on doing the online renewal for the non real ID DL if SBSD accepts it.

Make a DMV appointment at a smaller office, have your paperwork ready, be done with it.

The river is calling your name. Head to Blythe for the weekend. Leave early enough to get there before they close on Friday afternoon. I've been there twice and there were only 3 other people there on both occasions.

I'll do a remote location if I need it, but if SBSD doesn't require it, I'm renewing online lol, has anyone renewed with a non real ID?

I will be.

But it's not a federal limits apply license either.

Ya, my regular ID will be expired by then, and I'll have a Fed limits ID on renewal.

Just make an appt. at the DMV, and get the renewal done. I did mine recently at a ‘busy’ location, and with an appt. was in/out within about 45min. Call it an hour if I would have had to take the written test.

Real ID applies to TSA boarding a plane which takes affect Jan 2020, in which case a passport will suffice instead.

However, a non Real ID will be marked with federal limits apply and as such will also not allow you to purchase a firearm.

I'm not sure if instead a passport can be used for a firearm purchase or not in CA.

"Californians who want to make sure they have zero problems purchasing a firearm in the future may want to consider applying for and acquiring a REAL ID through the DMV. Remember these licenses can be used to board airplanes, gain access to military bases, and other federal facilities in 2020. Californians will not be able to use their non-REAL IDs for these purposes after 2020 and will be required to provide some other form of identification."

I would take the advice and get the REAL ID instead, definitely with an appointment.
