Default just a question

So I know this isn't specifically a CCW topic but guns in general. I am selling some ammo and was offered a trade. I also approached someone with a trade. Neither party wants to do the trade at an FFL.

I really don't want to jeopardize my CCW for a stupid ammo trade. I'm sure it happens every day. The one guys flat out said I don't do FFL's almost like its a set up. It probably isn't a set up but it felt just odd.

An ammo trade is still a transfer no??

And it should be done at a FFL correct?

"Transfers" require an FFL.
Trading is a transfer.

New or recently joined member?

Sounds like a trap if they’re adamant about no FFL.

Not necessarily a trap, some guys just don't want to deal with the government stuff or be on record.

However, since the OP is fortunate enough to have a CCW, I would stick to a FFL transfer to help protect the CCW.

I thought that as long as it's less than 500 rounds in 30 days you don't have to do the whole process?
Am I wrong?
Too much for my old brain to try to read and understand...
Of course not that I have done this... just that was my understanding.

Transfers to non-exempt person must be done through a CA licensed ammunition vendor or CA FFL dealer. [PC 30312(a),(b)]

In order to legally transfer more than 500 rounds within 30 days, that person must be a CA licensed ammunition vendor or CA FFL dealer. [PC 30342(a)]

Exempt yourself so you won't have to use an FFL.

Many of us are.... but unless you're also anti-CCW then I'd only do non-FFL ammo stuff with your most trusted inner circle. Just not worth losing your ticket over IMO.
