Default Gun control gathering

Hey folks, I saw this thread in the 2A forum but felt that starting a thread here in the San Diego section might get it a bit more traction:
http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=752348

I'm planning on attending/counter-demonstrating that day. 5:30 is almost unreal of a time to meet up but it'd be great if we could come up with some bodies of our own to counter the gun control group...

I don't work too far from that but the timing may be rough. I will see what I can do.

Lol that'd be good; I'll go it alone if I have to, but my riot shield is in the shop...

I'll be coming in to the rally hot, since I have to try to weasel out of work early. I'm HOPING to get out by 4 at the earliest, and then shoot on over to Mission Bay. A friend of mine is helping me make signs, but I'm still debating what messages/statements I should be pushing.

I figure I'll run into the whole car vs gun registration analogy, so I was going to make a two-sided sign that stated this:

How does vehicle registration prevent cars from being stolen?
*How does gun registration prevent guns from being stolen?

Registration would not prevent guns from being stolen or used by criminals.

How does vehicle registration prevent people from driving like jerks or in a dangerous or reckless manner?
*How would gun registration prevent people from behaving recklessly with guns?

Registration would not prevent hazardous use of guns by individuals or criminals.

How does vehicle registration prevent death or injury of innocent bystanders in auto collisions?
*How would gun registration prevent death or injury of innocent bystanders from guns?

Registration will not lessen deaths or injuries from gun related accidents.

How does registration prevent crimes being committed with automobiles?
*How would gun registration prevent crimes being committed with guns?

Gun registration WON’T prevent crimes with guns. Criminals will get their guns and commit their crimes no matter what laws are in place; that is what criminals do! The only thing registration will do is make it difficult and possibly expensive for law-abiding citizens the Constitutional right to defend thsemvelves or their loved ones by owning a gun

So...what does one wear to a pro-gun control rally, if you're on the opposite side? I was thinking a "gun" shirt of some sort but now I'm thinking something "decent" looking or business casual...

I am thinking...
Protect our Rights!
Protect our Freedom!
FREEDOM
LIBERTY

What do you think?

Where specifically are you going to be?

I've never been to a protest/demonstration/whatever you call it. I'm assuming we'll situate ourselves right across from the gun control group? We need to keep our distance so we're not rioting, but not so far away that we're irrelevant. I also think our signs should focus on countering whatever ideas they are representing, in this case being gun registration, or whatever that stuff that didn't pass in the Senate recently that has Obama and his pals so pissed off.

Again, I'm new to this, and I wish we had more experienced pro-2A demonstrators on hand to at least give us some pointers...

If I can make it I will be in my office attire representing your avg. hard working american who wants to fight for rights. Maybe a sign that says register your beer and I'll register my rifle.

Beer already is subject to restrictions and gobs of government regulation and even registration, from a manufacturer's perspective.

Yes, but when was the last time you registered one as a consumer? My rifles are subject to restrictions as well as it stands as are the manufacturers. It is for the general statement not for the details. Just like the left likes to omit details and facts to fit their needs, I can as well. If an argument of semantics were to be brought forward, I have no problem arguing details with those people who wish to do so. To fit something on a sign and envoke a response or emotional thought process... it would work.

I just don't have the time to make an elaborate sign, so I'm thinking: "Gun registration saves no lives!"

I saw a sign once that said "My glock is alot easier to carry than a police officer" or something to that effect, I thought it was witty.

So the rally point for the anti's is by the Clairemont Drive over-pass or whatever. Should we meet close to there? What time?

Did you read what they are protesting? The fact that the senate protected buying "loopholes" that don't even exist in California lol. Unless you plan on going on a rampage with C&R guns...

True, but I figure they're protesting on behalf of the other states that would have received the new legislation that's been hurting us for years.

BTW, I'm going to need a bit of schooling here: what are these "loopholes" that the anti's are crying about?

Most states you can do cash and carry for guns in person to person transfers. There are no background checks.

Ok, but if you buy a gun from a store, then there's still a background check?

This is a rough draft of one of the signs I'm putting together. Minimally, I'm bringing this one out and another that says "registration saves no lives, but infringes on rights." Thoughts?

Yes. People call it the "gunshow loophole" but really its just private sales and not a loophole its just, you know, the law.
