Question Why Does AR Maglock Make a .22 LR Fixed Mag Kit?

https://armaglock.com/product/armaglock-mp-15-22/

What is the point of this? It is my understanding you can use a regular mag release on a non-centerfire, .22lr AR. Am I missing something?

My assumption is that it's likely that other states with their own AWB's may not have a rimfire exemption, so this product is designed to accommodate those customers.

Maybe for NYC or some other place worse than ours, surprisingly, there are a few!

The ARMagLock was originally designed/made to comply with NY assault weapons laws.
^NY assault weapon laws does not have an exemption for rimfire firearms.

The ARMagLock was being sold to customers in NY and CT about a year before it was being sold to customers in CA.

The "bullet button" style magazine locks were only legal in CA.
Other States (CT, HI, MA, MD, NJ, NY) and the Feds always viewed firearms equiped with "bullet button" style magazine locks to be firearms with detachable magazines.
CA's "bullet button" ban was just CA adopting the fixed magazine definition that the rest of the USA was using.

For an AR-22 PISTOL, this is a very good solution to stay legal.

I would not be surprised that soon enough, we will see 22 cal AR being re classed as AW requiring mag locks.
