Default Anschutz 54.30 Precise, Schmidt & Bender Field Target

A scope that I ordered from Schmidt and Bender is finally here, but had to go through SB HQ and order from Germany.

Anyway, this is the scope with Kelbly rings and my Anschutz 54/30 Precise.

I use it as my squirrel and plinker.

How big and/or how far away are these squirrels?

haha, I little overkill in many respects. But if they're armed, then it's a different story.

I have a rig just like this that I bought to shoot rats in the corn crib. It shoots rat shot really well, although the scope is a little overkill.

Interesting, a few months ago I purchased a March 10-60x56mm High Master scope from opticsplanet and it had the FTR reticle. I really had no idea what an FTR reticle was honestly but it was a really good deal, I shoot ELR and wanted to test the effectiveness of a F Class scope for ELR.

I ended up googling and youtubing FTR and it's an airgun disciple and they shoot at around 10-150 meters. Interesting in that it's a high power scope for such a close distance. I noticed the FTR reticle made no sense to me at all until I realized that the ranges are always pretty close. They always use 2nd focal plane too.

I ended up paying March in Japan to change the reticle out to a long range one. I know the parallax wheels on these things need to be so big because the FTR requires it because of all the close ranges, so being in focus is a big deal.

I gotta ask, if that's what you use for squirrels and plinking what do you use for serious target shooting?
