Default Selling a CCW Gun

I emailed the county CCW unit this question, but am still waiting for an answer. Maybe someone here in CalGuns can help me out. Does anyone know if I can sell a gun that is listed on my CCW before I have it amended or do I have to have the gun officially removed from my CCW before it can be sold? Thanks for any input!

You can absolutely sell it. I sold several off my permit.

So I can sell it first and then amend the CCW afterward?

SanBernardino County requires a note to them via email if you sell one that is still on your permit.

If you sell it, you will not carry it.

If you do not carry it, amending the CCW isn't all that important.

But, you might want to add a new gun as a replacement for the sold one - the sold one would still be 'taking up a slot' if your IA limits the number you might list - so amending it then would be appropriate.

...when I emailed SBSD about the sell of 2 of my permitted weapons they replied with a reminder to make sure to remove them upon the next renewal.

Honestly… I just waited untill my renewal and didn’t renew those pistols that I sold… But you can call them and they’re very straightforward and helpful on the phone

So here’s the email I received from the OC CCW unit:

“You will be required to amend your CCW license in order to remove the firearm prior to selling it. Please follow the instructions below:

In order to update your CCW License, you must submit an amendment request online. Prior to filling out your amendment request, be prepared to scan the following documents:

Removing a Firearm:
· List the firearm you would like removed in the comment sections.
· Copy of your valid California Driver’s license, or state issued ID.”

So it looks like OC requires that it be removed before selling to stay kosher with the law!

That is also the info that I got several months ago (from OCSD) upon inquiry for the same subject. They said remove it first, then sell it.

Interesting others have sold first......

Irritating and confusing when info.....or rules....are not uniform across the board. So, I haven’t removed it or sold it
