Gear selection - BOB

I found this cruising around the net. Looks like a great deal, but you do get what you pay for most of the time. Anyone have experience with this bag or company?

Looks similar to the 5.11 72 pack, but significantly cheaper.

Ncstar bag if I'm not mistaken. For the money I'd go with one of LAPG's bags or spend a bit more for a Voodoo Tactical or Condor Tactical Assault Pack for $80 that comes with an extra small bag. If I recall there was another local vendor here in SoCal that was selling it cheaper..Gladiator Tactical I think.

Yes, camo, molle or anything "tactical". One school of thought is that BOB should look like
a normal pack, so you don't stand out among sheeple or draw attention to yourself.

First off do a search or even read down the list of topics on the first page and you'll see this addressed multiple times. I'll cut and paste my reply from another thread to here. These bags are amazing.

I recently bought a Kelty Redwing 50 for $50 from a reputable seller on ebay. It's a HIGHLY rated backpack that will do whatever you need and more and has a lifetime guarantee. Go here or here to read a ton of great reviews of this pack, then go buy it from that link I provided on ebay and save a ton of money. I will be swapping out all my other bags for these. Wish I had heard of these sooner and not spent more money on lesser bags.

If however you are sporting a tactical pack, just get a pack rain cover.

LAPG's Operator Pack is similar in size..but only runs $45. As far as Condor goes..if you are leaning towards that one..might as well spend a bit more and get the Condor Tactical Assault Pack..it's even bigger than the one you noted. However, bear in mind..the more room you have, the more gear you're likely to stuff in there. Sometimes stuff that's not really needed=more gear you have to haul on your back. Food for thought. My .02

Went and looked at a couple at the local Army/ Navy. They had a BlackHawk Ultralite. I really liked it. The LAPG Operator is very, very similar for less than half the price. I may have to go this route.

After shipping it's $77 for a used bag that has no guarantee. The bag I linked is $54 after tax with free shipping and is bigger, more durable, more comfortable, etc. Kelty's backpacks have been used by the US military for years, including Navy SEALs. They have been tested under the harshest conditions by military personnel, backpackers, etc since 1952, have a lifetime warranty, come in all shapes and sizes, and are VERY affordable. Now that you know about these bags, why would you waste money on anything else?

No I don't work for them, I just know a good product when I see one, and wish I would have known about them a long time ago instead of just recently. My wife and I love the two we have and all of our other backpacks will be replaced by Kelty versions.
