Default Suggestions for a laptop(pc) to run photoshop and illustrator?

Hey guys,
I'm needing to find a laptop that will run Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator without too much trouble. I'd really prefer a pc. Any tips on what specs I should look for?

Thanks in advance!

I7, 8GB RAM, SSD, and a 1080p display (you'll have to custom order the laptop).

ThinkPads are pretty nice.

Something like this....

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+U...&skuId=5772852

It only has 4gb of ram but ram is a simple upgrade and relatively inexpensive.

Having a dedicated graphics card will also help when rendering your pictures...even if it is only 512mb it is still taking the load off the processor.

Awesome. Thanks, guys! I'll take that and run it past my PC guru frien and see what they suggest in terms of building a desktop or buying a laptop(turns out a laptop isn't completely necessary).

If you can utilize a desktop, DEFINITELY go with the desktop. Cheaper parts, easier to upgrade, easier to maintain, on average a longer life span.

PowerBooks are too old and run PowerPC processors, not Intel x86 based processors. The last PowerBook is only 1.67GHz G4 and Adobe dropped PowerPC support in Creative Suite after CS4.

But a MacBook Pro on the other hand would be sufficient. You definitely want an NVidia GPU, though, since CS6 has enhanced code to take advantage of the Nvidia GPU instruction set.

The Video Card should have considerable memory and should be a separate component from the main board.

If you can find a labtop with IPS monitor, then you with be gtg. I tried to run photoshop and was not able to see the color changes and TN monitor with RAW files.

I hate most apple products, however the Mac Power Pro with the Retina display is going get you the maximun usage with Photoshop.

Photoshop = $700 14 bit IPS monitor + Raw Files

Ugh.. Yeah, thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I genuinely appreciate it. I'm going with a desktop build and a friend is going to put it together for me. I didn't even realize this Adobe stuff had become so powerful since the last time I used it.

Head spinning. I think I've become too old for this crap. I need a drink...

If you plan to work in print or are very specific about how your work appears on the web, a colorimeter may also be useful.

Too bad I got my macbook way before they started using Retina/IPS.

I run cs6 on a desktop that is between 5-6 years old just fine. Granted a 1gb dedicated video card and 6 gigs of ram doesn't hurt. Still its a 2nd gen amd quad core.

Sent from my fingers, to your face.

I'd recommend getting a tablet to save your sanity and use pressure functions.

I do have the new Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 with Photoshop touch and Sketchbook Pro,and I'm absolutely loving it. Unfortunately, I need the bigger PC to handle other things.
