You wasted your vote and its due to people like you that Barnes now is in a run off instead of winning the election outright. Thank you for that!

No problem. My conscience is clear.

Rest assured I will be voting for Barnes in the runoff, along with (I would expect) all the other Harrington voters.

It would be a big assumption that people are going to vote for Barnes next time, just because they voted for Harrington. Hopefully they do, but....

Some people may only turn up for primaries. Some people may change their mind on Nguyen. Especially if he does heavy campaigning. Some may not even show up for the vote and cost Barnes some votes.

It would have been great to win on the first try. Especially when Harrington was IMO right or ready for the job.

Being the mayor of the city is a lot different from having thousands of people work directly under you.

Question

OK, already did a search on this in this forum, but zero hits.

Question: If you have a lawfully-PPT'd off-roster gun, can you get it put on your CCW?

TIA.

that info was floating around here occasionally in the past, so there may be more to it than my experience..

buuuut, I have two off roster pistols on mine and the other two while bought when rostered, may not be anymore either..

no mention of roster during my initial or two renewals, only that they are registered in my name and pass inspection..

good luck!

Yes. You can list off roster for Orange County if you have legally obtained them of course

The CA roster of firearms is for new purchase only - what a dealer may sell in the state of CA - has nothing to do with what you legally own.

You can add an unlimited number of firearms to your carry permit, you just need to qualify each one and legally own them.

They're getting a lot better and faster. I had to hurry up on my end because they're shifting from the paper system to an electronic system, which will hopefully make the times even shorter.

Not sure if anyone has posted any numbers lately, but I have a friend who picked his up the other day. The Sgt told him they're up to 18,000 issued.

Their documentation still says 90 days: http://www.ocsd.org/civicax/filebank...x?BlobID=24223

Normally they'll issue a renewal pretty close to expiration, but you keep your old one 'till it expires then destroy it, use the new one.

There are several there that will review a GCS.

Frankly, if it needs fine tuning they'll tell you what's missing.

Question

Is there a short summary or wiki of the CCW process in OC in this 2700 post thread?

Main thing, the CCW course is the first step?

BTW, are there any reasons one would fail the background check part besides convictions?

BTW, are there any reasons one would fail the background check part besides convictions? Yes. OCSD could deny you for anything that causes it to have concerns with your character.

I just finished the CCW training at Artemis and had a great experience. They are very professional and helpful.

As for how difficult it is to get a CCW permit in OC, I had my interview withing one business day and the deputy was very helpful in advising how to edit my Reasonable Cause statement so it would be accepted. I had multiple deputies state they wish there were more CCW holders.

Artemis is great. Highly recommend you look into the further training plans that they offer.

To do that what do we need to do:
1) Download and fill out http://www.ocsd.org/civicax/filebank...x?BlobID=38304
2) go to one of the following location:
https://oag.ca.gov/fingerprints/locations?county=Orange
Then what? What is the result of the livescan and how to include it as part of the application later?

You don't need to include it in your application package. The results of your livescan will be electronically sent to OCSD. Just download and print out the form and take it to the livescan operator!

Thank you. I am going to do livescan during weekdays next week, taking my ccw course Saturday, then will apply and report back the time table.

Just be sure you use the Live Scan form that you download from the OCSD CCW site. That way the correct checks will be made and the results will be reported directly to the correct OCSD unit.

Quick question. Anybody know of OCSD would request for a training certificate and be denied a permit?

You need to rephrase your question. The sentence is confusing.

My mistake for trying to type and talk on my iPhone at the same time.

OCSD requested a training certificate last Wednesday. Completed my training through Insight on Sunday and received my certificate later in the evening. What is the likelihood that OCSD will deny me at this point for whatever reason they can find fit.

If they requested your training certificate then you are approved. Patience grasshopper!

Yes, but that's 'patience'.

The certificate is a final criterion for approval - you pass you get a permit. LOL

As the others have said, you'll have a permit in hand soon. They wouldn't have asked for the cert if you weren't going to be getting a permit. Standby to standby.

OCSD is really on their game. I completed my CCW training last Sunday, submitted all paperwork on Monday, and scheduled an appointment Friday. The CCW unit said my file was extremely clean and all my paperwork looked good, and they issued right on the spot. Couldn’t believe the process was so smooth, and the county system for applying is very user friendly. Can’t believe I waited so long.

Question

Question: For proof of residency, they want utility or phone bills, but all of mine I went paperless. I own, so no leasing agreement, & I have no current property tax bill. Do you know if they'll take the PDF bills you can generate off of a utility company's Website?

Sure do, I went online and downloaded the PDFs and submitted them electronically. Also, they like to see two months of one because it shows longevity at an address. Better to give them too much info than not enough.

“Issue right on the spot?” Did you mean they printed and gave you the card? I thought the interviewer is only an investigator and they need higher level to do final check and approval?

Submitted renewal today.

The new app process has a few repetitive steps, like asking for my background crim history 2x and military service 2x.
